We are not talking about whether Age Of Wushu is Game Of Thrones, anyone with any sence can see they are not the same film, book or game.

The characters are different, in fact anyone who actually thinks Game Of Thrones is really Age Of Wushu is blind.

What made you think Age Of Wushu was really Game Of Thrones?

    Pfft. lulz.

Don't let to many people know that you think Age Of Wushu is really Game Of Thrones lol, you don't want to be laughed at.image

I got a feeling I am making a mistake here, but:

I do like Game of Thrones the TV show. Never read the books. I like a lot of 'adult' fare that has realistic elements in it or even central to the overall plot.

However, that is a passive form of entertainment. I am being told a story. If the story is not to my liking or makes me feel uncomfortable I can put it down/stop watching.

MMOs are 'active' entertainment. In my view I am helping to tell the story.

I would rather not be involved in a story that has elements involving loss of virginity or being sold into prostitution. Passively that might be included in some engaging entertainment, I just don't want to be integral to those elements.

I'm not a prude and I'm not casting judgement on others who do play this game. I don't think you're a bad person because you play a game with those elements. It's just not for me.

Again, thank you all for the information. My deferal really isn't a big deal.

For what its worth those two skills are not in the US game and may not make it as they are in the chinese game, and they are not exactly the most benign skills either. The fact you have to go around killing people alone would make it nearly impossible for myself to get them unless I went a totally different route than I am currently taking, irregadless of body parts sacrificed. I doubt I could retain my constable position as I went on a killing spree to make some eunuch happy nor does my school look kindle on that kind of thing. The royal guard should have no problem with it however.

But indeed some skills are directly tied to who you are as a character, Shaolin will be dudes Emei will be girls, these are historically schools that were gender biased and they remain so in the game. Who you sell kidnapped players to is dependent on gender to a degree in that the house of escorts will only accept female victims (I believe this is only in chengdu as that is the only one I have seen but someone with more experience kidnapping may have more infor on that). Rule number one 1 don't log out in chengdu its a pit of scum and villany.

Look, this has been fun and all, but here is what you said:

    Ashely
It's obviously a game that has elements of historical accuracy and that is totally cool, not bashing the game it's just not my cup of tea.

    You:

So you don't like Game Of Thrones, books or series?

You compared the two directly because there is castration of player characters in one and a eunich in the other. It's absolutely fucking retarded to compare the two. The leap of logic is devastatingly obvious. Yet, you were actually trying to convince people there should be a comparison between the two. If you are ok with Game of Thrones, you are ok with Age of Wushu. It's, quite simply, a stupid comparison to make.

I know you like the game, but you are acting way worse than any GW2 fanboy. So what? Someone doesn't like the idea that castration and loss of virginity can make your character more powerful as a customization option. Are you really surprised by this?

Not trying to convince you otherwise, because A) I completely understand and B) I am new to the game and don't have all of the info myself yet, but I am fairly certain that in the case of being sold into prostitution, it's an offline thing and as such a passive part of the story and nothing you'd need to do actively in game. I might be wrong though. I don't know anything about the virginity thing or how that works.

I asked if he like Game Of Thrones. You can't pick and choose how and when castration is acceptable. If you don't like something then you don't like it full stop.

Why worse than a GW2 fanboy lol, how can i act worse than you.

Castration is castration, if you don't like it or like seeing it in games, films or books then it applies to all.

    Nice try though.

And you didn't see the reverse even thought it's been fun.

Yeah you are not forced to do any of these things in game, that's what i was getting at. You are not going to have to cut your nuts off or sleep with a gang of sex nuts lol.

My point was that in game of thrones their is both of these things going on but most of us still watch the films or read the books because it does not effect us. In Age Of Wushu you can play this game without experiencing any of the things i've mentioned, it's your choice.

I did also say that it's not on the US server and won't be for some time if ever.

So why would you not play the game based on something or features that won't effect you unless you want them to.

You answered like that because you saw how flawed your shitty logic was. You tried to change the conversation because you have nothing to stand on. Here is what is wrong with your point:

Because something exists in one thing, it does not necessarily mean that the same element will be well recieved in another. Particularly when you are talking about compeltely different mediums - and completely different quality levels to be honest.

Someone, believe it or not, can simultaneously enjoy Game of Thrones and not like the castration/loss of virginity feature in Age of Wushu. It is obvious to anyone that isn't a die-hard fan of the game that is incapable of seeing that other people might not like some of the features.

Think this thread has gone off-tracked a bit..

    But just want to add:
Character creation in AoW is limited in the sense you will ended up looking "Chinese" no matter what you do.

However, if you don't pick from the limited face template offered but customize your face manually you can still get a decent variety:

Just a few characters created by players who spent a bit more effort during face creation.

Thank you, Cname, those look very pretty.

Those pics don't really do the facial differentiation that is possible justice. I've made some really crazy looking faces with their character creator. It can vary a lot.

But the rest - the body, the clothes, the hairstyles - they are very limited at the moment.

My guy, I think the facial choices are varied but in a game of this perspective some of the details get lost until you look really close at the characters, the fact that many of the people in the game are wearing the exact same pieces of armor at the moment due to the recent start of everyone causes a bit of "sameness" going on as well.

It is definately not as bad as some asian mmo's where you get one guy per class or one gender per class or zero choices in looks other than armor worn. You do customize your character here at least. It is not Aion levels of crazy though where you have a bobble head walking with a hulking girl and a small asian doll.

As far as clothing options you have, guild outfits, cosmetic shop outfits, school outfits..and there are many varieties of your school outfit depending on your school rank, the various armor outfits. There are more than people use at the moment because people are the same rank in the schools and people are wearing similar armor.

At creation, yes it's true. I almost unistalled the game after seeing I had 3 type of hair and no color choice...

But in game you have quite a few more. Of course at low level a lot of people will have similar clothing, that's the same for every game though.

I would agree except for the clothes part.

In addition to the normal equipment look, each player who belong to a school would get a dozen set as they advanced.

Also, each of the 8 school has 2 branches with different uniforms - player must decide on one eventually - giving a little more variety.

If the player is one of the school leaders, they will receive the appropriate academy robes as long as they hold their school position.

If you belong to a guild you have access to a few more sets depending on your rank in guild.

If a player has good standing with any of the NPC faction, they can eventually received a set of clothes design which can be crafted by the "Mysterious Tailor" . They are 18 sets of faction fashion available.

If you achieved  the top title of any of  the life skill profession, you will be rewarded with a unique profession garb  (which is taken away when you lost the title).

What is available in the cash shop isn't even included in the above...

Just some junk I had in my bag at the moment, from top left clockwise My actual armor, a cheap piece of armor you get from becomming a poison maker, bottom left is my guild outfit (one of two) and bottom right is my scholar outfit (one of many possible)

You will notice each one changes the hair as well, this is a function of complete outfits like the guild or scholar or the head piece in the case of the above two.

I honestly haven't gotten very far in. I was just really referring to the character creation portion. It sounds like there are a lot of options for clothing later on though which is nice.
