PC in Progress

Hey guys, kinda new here.  Haven't really made a thread yet, I was wondering I'm building a PC and wanna at least run Far Cry 3 on High, I'd go for Ultra, but...teenage budget and all...these are the parts I have so far though:

GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130782

Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504

Ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145345

Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131821

Tower: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146087

HDD:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148697

Power supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139012

All I'm really missing is some fans to match the tower up, and a cooling supply, I was looking for either gel or water cooling, I had a cooler but it's discontinued sadly, feel free to make changes to accomodate my budget. Thanks in advance!!

I have seen and been told that SSD are better than HDD.

Sadly for the amount of space that I'd require for the amount of games that I play and such an ssd that I would need would just cost me wayyyyy to much :/

If all you are trying to is run Far Cry 3 maxed you can go for a cheaper card.

Based on the wants/needs you listed, Far Cry 3 on High perhaps Ultra, there are a number of areas you could easily save on your budget that would allow you to add a SSD in conjunction with your HDD, which is the new standard these days anyway.  The SSD will be your boot drive (where you keep your OS and a few games you play more than anything else) and your HDD will be your storage drive where you keep everything else.  Downgrading your MB for one will easily allow you to pick up a 120Gb SSD and won't be much a sacrifice in terms of overall performance to the entire system.  One could even argue the addition of the SSD over your overpriced MB would be a performance increase, I know I would.  Another option is downgrading your GPU but honestly I would look at the MB first because a reduction in the GPU will be seen as time goes on.  Just food for thought.

P.S. Yes I too like the look of the Sabertooth board but it's that cool look you are paying for, that a few other features less than 5% of the people who buy the board will ever use.

EDIT:  I also noticed you didn't list a CPU cooler or an OS.  Do you already own a legal retail OS or do you plan to use Linux?  This was just discussed in another thread but for the low price of $25-30 you could pick up one of the best bang for you buck aftrermarket CPU coolers on the market today (Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus or Evo).  You don't have to consider these but I personally wouldn't build a new machine on the stock CPU cooler that is provided with your CPU.

Any suggestions on  a good mb then?  I looked around and this was one that my friend recommended I'm pretty new to all of this actually.

MB's are very much a personal preference type of thing but the brands that I see most often in just about EVERY major review site along with euthusiast builds are ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI and ASRock (used to be the ASUS bargain brand).  Any of the MB's from these makers around the $100-$130 will most likely meet your needs. There are some even cheaper than that but typically sub $100 (before rebates/sales) Z77 boards sacrifice a lot to reach that point and generally poor overclocking (OC) boards.   If you never plan to OC your computer you could save even more money but downgrading your CPU to the non K version and at that point you should be looking at H77 MB's which are typically sub $100 and are incapable of OCing.  Lot's of ways to save, it just depends on your personal needs.

That mobo is quite pricey,  why dont you go for something like this instead

    mobo:  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157303

    case:  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811163182

use the rest of your items except for the ram, make it 2x4gb's and that will save you around $200.

Personally all I really need this pc for is gaming, that and it's going to need to have a few usb ports 3 minimum which is pretty standard in most mbs I'm seeing so that shouldn't prove much of a problem I guess the only thing I want besides that is good port placement.

I originally had a cooler but sadly it got discontinued any links to the coolermaster?

The above two options are indeed good if they meet the needs of the person in question but that is the question at hand.  Silverstone cases typically require a little more finesse when it comes to getting all the parts in them without having wires all over the place, although that Temjin case is a superior product in just about all regards (minus looks) as a micro ATX case.  If the OP is a virgin in putting together computer or isn't patient with following directions however I wouldn't advise a Silverstone case because they are atypical.  My wife's system is built in the cheaper version of that same case from their Precision line and it's a great case, but you need to be aware it's a tight space to work in.

The MB is ok for someone who will never OC their system but a complete waste otherwise.  I guess based on the recent post from the OP a H77 board matched with an i5-3570 would probably work best (meaning OCing is not an option but you save some cash in the process).

Below is an example of my wife's case which is basically EXACTLY like the Temjin-08 listed by stayontarget just slight cheaper due to more plastic and 2x120mm front intake fans vs 1x180mm AP fan in the TJ-08.  I provided the photo next to my Silverstone FT-02 to give you an idea of what a micro ATX size case looks like next to a mid tower case.  BTW the GPU is a 3-slot card so if you wanted you could still technically fit 2x2 slot GPU's in SLI or xfire in this case but the lack of air flow would seriously make me think twice about that.  The CPU cooler you see is the Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo.

You really don't need a high end motherboard.  You could easily get something reasonably nice, while saving enough money as compared to what you linked to make room for a good SSD.  Cheaper motherboards:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130644

And an SSD that costs about the price difference:

That's a standard SandForce drive, and basically the same as a bunch of other drives on the market.
