 The stickies end up collecting dust, is true. Something like an Editor's Select Choice - Forum might be eye-catching and stuffed with useful threads stickied perhaps 50 or something, that are more informative than discussion/chit-chat driven?

Certainly a separate forum for threads which had been long term sticky threads is an idea. Some have to remain, Forum rules for example but most should move on after a year or so.
