Not to rain on anyone's parade but unless they actually plan on revamping a whole lot of the game its gonna go the same route it went before it closed.
I see all these posters posting about how its so old-school and its sandboxy...
Um, did we actually play the same game because I would love for some posters to tell me how its sandboxy because of the no NPC's or the crafting I mean how is that sandbox?
The skill trees are nothing new there the same as in almost every other MMO now?
Don't get me wrong I'm glad there giving everyone that liked the game a chance to play it again but for it to have any real staying power this time there gonna have to come up with something to actually hook people and keep them playing...
I'm hoping there gonna go the F2P kinda like LOTRO route and try and open it up some for new people to try because if there gonna go and try to charge people again for the game its gonna probably end up the same fate as it was before I can't actually see them making money off the game now when there is so many MMO's saturating the market....
IMO I couldn't stand that you couldn't do anything without having to craft thats the biggest issue in the game for me was that you basically couldn't progess without crafting...
I wouldn't mind trying it again if they changed some of the way you progess but I can tell you right now I wouldn't pay a full subscription price to play it again....

There are NPC's. I'm not saying anything about it's being a sandbox, but you are thinking of the game when it originally hit. It's last content release updated a few things that alot of people remember it from launch probably don't know about.
For everyone who keeps commenting on the "buggy, exploit filled mess", please remember the game changed substantially from the 2002 launch to the close of the game. In particular the Hero levels, 50+, and then the expansion pack. I think, from a class perspective, it's closer to a sandbox because there is no hard level cap. Sure you can get to a point of limited returns, somewhere in the mid to high 80s if I remember correctly, but that doesn't mean you can't continue to improve your character.
This game really evolved. The reason you have bad memories is you're one of the people who played at launch, which was admittedly terribly, and then didn't come back. Understandable for sure. But don't think they launched this as it was in 2002. This is the game with the Legions expansion. It's a pretty amazing game, with the deepest and most customizable skill system of any MMO I've ever played.
Thaaaank you. This needed to be said. That underlined part alone was enough reason for me to return to the game.

You're right!
This is crap from several years ago!
You know what they say:
One mans Crap is another mans Treasure.
good luck to all those giving this a shot because yea contrary to what Tam here says, most games released in the last 6+ years ahve been total crap and it will be nice to see what the games were like back then.
There's also a lot of people who were/are AC1 player who were "offended" that Turbine would "dare" to make an AC2 that wasn't AC1 with better graphics. They raged about it back then. They've raged about it almost any time someone brought up AC2 since, and they're right back at it, raging about it now. For a game that went offline 7 years ago.
And we thought the SWG/NGE people had trouble letting go and moving on?
Where are a lot of AC1 fans raging about this? Tam doesn't speak for the rest of us. AC1 players seem to really like this move.
I wouldn't know about alot of AC1 players creating problems about AC2 getting a new lease of life, but there is certainly 1 player who is certainly making themselves heard, that player would be ZERO NIGHT, the kid never ever lets up on how he hates AC2, and that he is the top dog in AC1 Darktide and that if anyone cares to fight him he is both available in RL to fight and in AC1, where he assures the entire Dawnsong server he more than capable of owning everyone in RL and game world.
I've heard some loons in my time but this kid takes the biscuit, but he has been the only AC1 player I have heard actually complain.
I just hope they get Squelch activated soon, the guy is hogging General chat something chronic, and for someone that detests the game he has been in it for 3 days straight now.
AC2 was Turbine's answer to EQ. They thought they could take some things from AC1 and combine them with standard EQ fair and come up with a winner. It did not work out. AC1 players did not like it and it really did not attract much of the EQ crowd. It was a winner when released, it had great graphics, but the game play had issues. People would camp spawn sites and there were other problems. It never really attracted much of a following. It was still a better game than many of the newer games.
Maybe other companies should take a look at this idea.....Get people to sub to an older game that is struggling (like AC1 was) and offer some other MMO or beta for free as incentive......It would be especially effective if the company was planning on making the other MMO f2p anyway.....I think this is a stroke of genius if they can get people to pay 10 bucks a month for a game many had considered old and dead.
Haha hell yea they do, Star Wars Galaxies and Asherons call 2 both. F2P models of both owuld increase profit to their respective businesses by an ingenious amount.
Never fear, your dream MMO will be here.... just give me a decade or two to finely hone my Game development and design abilities as well as start a Game Design Studio. Thank you for your patience.
My very first MMO was AC1, played it for about 3 years but got lured away by better graphics. I bought AC2 but never even got around to installing it as my computer packed up and I had to wait a while before I got a new one and by then they had canned it. So it might just be something for me to peruse over Xmas and the New Year.
