You see they did release videos, they have been out for a very long time, this is what Darkfall: Unholy Wars will look and sound like. It is not far off the original game, just better. Honestly it is not far off because the last game was a beta.

These videos are a mixture of DF1 and UW assests. You can get a good feel for momentum in the first video and all the videos give you a good idea of what some of the new armor will look like.
You guys are silly, this is what the game is going to look like. The sound one is exactly what it will look like. Also these are not from 2009 lol they are from 2011. The 2009 ones were left out. The sound one is the best you are going to get.
If you are looking for the UI you are not going to get it, they are too excited about its release. I would bet a million dollars that the game will look just like the sound video. Write that down.
I know programming and texturing you can tell the bulk has already been added if you look and see how different it is from the original game. Not much will change and if you expect more than this you are going to be very disappointed.

But the OP is right.
The look of the game won't change much.
DF:UW is not a new game, it is DF Reloaded or how it should have been 3 years ago.
Not that I am complaining, since I was waiting for a Server wipe to try the game again.
People should try this game, honestly.
It wasn't so bad when it launched with all those exploits and bugs, now that (hopefully) it has been fixed, it should be an awesome game to play.
I expect more than this from a game that's been in development for a decade. Yes.
Assuming that they havent changed too much as far as actual mechanics, and that the majority of the work has been directed at the look & feel of the game and the UI.... Then yeah the majority of bugs / problems have been worked out now. If theyve made any major mechanics changes (i dont mean like adding roles, but in the actual coding and functionality of combat and other things) we may run into quite a few bugs, but from what we've seen so far that doesnt look to be the case.
The 3 main things Im concerned we will run into problems with:
1) Things in the new UI being buggy. Even the old UI still has its quirks and bugs after several years (random inoperation of your journals & clan pages, etc), but hopefully the new one not only looks better but functions better.
2) Continued lack of dealing with exploiters. I really hope they learned their lesson from DF1, but if they still havent learned that they need to deal with exploiters ASAP, theyre going to wind up losing a lot of players quickly once it becomes known.
3) Any brand new features / mechanics they decide to add in being bugged to hell
As long as they keep a good handle on those 3 things and get them resolved pretty quickly with their new larger staff, it could very well be many times more enjoyable and succesful than DF1. I have my doubts that it will happen, but at the same time Im hopeful it will. If we get a better version of DF with the ability to hold a much higher population, DFUW is going to be my main game for a very long time (unless something like The Repopulation completely kicks ass).
they are a year old but still pretty much what we will be getting. might be missing a few new things, like I'm fairly certain they all have the old animations.
but it definitely won't have "way" better graphics. some people obviously have too high expectations.

So much so, they couldn't even bring the old characters over. This eludes to a new engine being used for the game. If that is the case, it will not be shown in videos from 2011. No one on youtube would have access to these videos and footage that defies the NDA would be promptly removed.
Please don't provide mis-information and act like you know things to which you do not.
Still looks like shit by today's standards, but I'm going to give it a try anyhow. The original was ok-ish, but lacked content and polish. Hopefully they are at least this time going with a bit more standard UI instead of trying to reinvent the wheel (and fail miserably).
Actually it'll look a bit better than that. Most of that stuff is old work in progress shots. In most of those videos you don't see the new lighting, new animations, new textures, new water, or anything like that. Just some new models.
But yes it will look better.
