Ive played SWG/WoW/Everquest and I find those 3d games to be over rated, ive even played guildwars, I think the games are way to much like ps2 games. AE has an awesome community and active GMs/DEVs that often speak to players. Id rather play AE then any other game ANY DAY . You guys who play just start out when it sucks. Get to lvl 60 and then fight pkers/go to special bosses. Then it becoms fun. Dont judge a game when ur a noob and dont know anything about it.

As for the opinions of you and your small friendly like-minded welcoming committee, I value them not at all because you speak of something you have no first-hand knowledge of and are clearly going to remain closed minded about. Does the expression To each his own have any meaning to you? Did it occur to you that some of us prefer old school graphics that some of the other users on this board might as well? Heres a little something to chew on for you:

Which would you rather own? A classic mint condition car that showed pride of craftsmanship and was meticulously maintained or a typical car of today complete with all the latest bells and whistles yet lacking in any real defining characteristics I would choose the classic and some would choose the other but the point is that just because a game doesnt have the latest and greatest visuals in no way means that it necessarily is inferior in quality. Again, to each his own, I am simply saying think twice before you bash on people simply because they have a preference that differs from your own. You dont see me on Guild Wars threads bashing your game because Ive never tried it, nor have I rated it for the same reason. And just as here on this thread I simply gave my honest opinion of a game Ive been playing for years and wanted to share with like-minded people, as did several other individuals here as well.

I dig the game, having a lot of fun playing it even though I'm a nub in it. Someone above mentioned that you hardly ever see real gamers bragging about a company/devs. Well maybe they should come try AE?
I can understand why people thought we just came to spam the board, since we all registered at once. But some of us, just found out about this topic and registered to get a word in.
Already found a couple other games on this board I haven't tried yet, and am very interested in.
So it has worked out for me. If it is ok, I'll stick around awhile.

Umm the car salesman appraoch doesnt work too good with video games. And your a staffer of the game. It just makes it look cheap and tawdry hearing your overinflated opinion. Same as if Guild Wars Staff came in here to say " Oh man our game rox we have the best staff and the game is unbelievable . Everyone loves each other and we are a family." barf, quick way to ruin a game

Theres a neat little term for that Psyklon, we call it an analogy (a·nal·o·gy) defined as: a comparison between two things that are similar in some respects, often used to help explain something or make it easier to understand. Clearly it was necessary for some of you. And that analogy works quite well for games too, thanks. I still play old Comodore 64 games and love them just as much as new ones, some of those are just as classic as my car analogy. Anyhow there is really nothing more to say about that. The analogy was made for people who can appreciate it at face value not for those of you who can not.
And no I am not a staffer at IWG. If you can point out the word DEV or any facsimile thereof on the IWG message board forums for me, then I will stand corrected. What I AM is a long time player of several years (as many could tell you) who has no vested interestes beyond the fact that I like the game enough to want to see it attract more new players who prefer this game style, its really that simple but apparently that simplicity eludes some.
Back to the non sense flaming. If you guys really think we're all the same player, then please by all means go to ashen empires' forum and see that we are actually active players, each and every one of us. (www.ashenempires.com/forums) The game is definelty not the best game around. It's owned by a very small company that loves the game and work as hard as they can to make it the best. It's not a multi-million dollar company. We like the graphics and the game style of Ashen Empires and we're all exited about the upcoming update and we thought we would share our interest here. That in no way means that you have to be intrested and it doesn't mean that it's a bad game. What i like may not be what others like but we posted here so maybe we can find other people who like what we like.
Someone said that we just post here because someone told us about the forums, that's true. This site is helpfull and full of information and a good way to get new people to is from people to tell others about it.
We've been accused of just joining to poll...well I've not done the poll yet - can't. So my motivation and defense of the game has been motivated by one thing - I like the game.
Does it have 'kick - a' graphics - no. But, if you think graphics makes a game, then imo you don't understand why I play a game for 3 years. If you find yourself jumping from one new game to another, it might be because you get bored with the game. That in itself if proof that sustainability of a game has nothing to do with graphics. So, dismissing AE because the graphics don't match WoW, or EQ2 or RYL or EVE, is not a reason to skip a game.
Playability trumps graphics, flexibility within the skill tree and character development, keeps you interested and allows your character to mature and you to explore all facets of the game - AE is one of the best in area, without a doubt.
Stability of the servers, playability, and dev/GM support is as good if not better then most of the other "big" games I've played.
I love this game. I keep coming back to it after I've played other games. I've played it for a long time.
Because of that, because I don't think that i'm a MMORPG noob, and because I think I'm a reasonably average person, I think that other would enjoy the game as well. So, I'm here posting to invite you all to come give a FAIR trial. If your a graphics hound and graphics is what hooks you, then don't bother, cause the game won't wow you with that.
Otherwise, I think its a good game and worthy of attention.
Although their is alot of pointless arguing in this thread and people seem to think some sort on conspiracy is going on, i think i will actually give this game a try, thanks for bringing it to my attention. I just have 1 question hows the population, i dont want to join a game thats dieing (not saying it is, i have no clue) but i have done this before and i really got into the game then the community became none existant and playing it was pointless.

I hope the admins ban you for mindlessly trolling and putting down a game and a group of players for no apparent reason. There might have been a reason in the beginning of this thread, but not now, not anymore. Hmm pretty funny as you were right there saying the same things. It is them that decided to come here and shamelessly spam the forums about this junky game. But if you want to flip flop fine.. after all you are only 14 and I will not be goaded into any more flaming.

And they did it in a very wrong way, also rigged game rating and then posted how this game was in top 5. This topic should be locked. If they really wanted a good discussion they wouldn't have posted such false information, create another topic dissing mmorpg.com communiy. These were manipulations.
The conclusion is simple - some fanbois of a crappy game trolled popular boards only to get more subscribers. Heck, they've even admitted that themselves. If the game was really worth it, they could have done it in a better way.
Since their community is capable of doing such things, I can already tell it's really bad and should be avoided. And the community was advertised as the strongest point of that game..

To the person 2 posts above this, what makes you think that they all voted 9 or 10 to hype it up to get some random newbie to join the game? I only see one that admitted that, and that's it.
You don't quite get the ranking system do you? It only got into the top 5 because not many people have ranked the game, therefore it goes higher in rank faster if suddenly alot of people rank it. I also don't see how 7.5 = 9's and 10's, so don't continue with that.
As i've stated before, I already apologized for insulting them, so no, don't bring up what i've said before, I actually realized that they are just trying to tell us about a game after reading it over again, not mindlessly trolling.
