20 year plus mmo'er here going all the way back starting with EQ. One, not 2. With stops over the years at MANY others. I don't post much, but peruse this board several times every day.
Over the years I keep reading many threads about a good sandbox game and/or a good crafting game. It seems, tho VERY strange for this board, we all agree......theres nothing!
Well, lemme share a story. And perhaps give a few folks a new addiction.
Friend I have gamed with for bout all those 20 years recently suggested a game to me to try. I laughed my arse off. TERRIBLE graphics and no real game play that i could see. As a VERY good friend I eventually agreed to TRY the silly game. It was a no sub game and only cost $27.00. Heck, that's nothing to appease a good ole buddy.
After a couple of days of playing IT along with GW2, RoM and Aion.....the bolt STRUCK......Not only was i NOT disliking IT.....I was having fun. Horror of Horrors!
A game thats 90% crafting and gathering.....almost no fighting and has terrible graphics. How could ANYONE actually play it?
Fast forward 2 weeks......i have given up shaving and eating. Bio's only as absolutely necessary. Have not logged into GW2, RoM or Aion for over a week......and have trouble sleeping now.
Tho not even a true MMO, multiplayer is achieved via THOUSANDS of private servers.
I have to tell you folks.......if you have that long term desire for a GREAT sandbox or crafting game.....take the plunge and TRY IT.
The evil game is called MINECRAFT.........
And it REALLY has brought back the feeling of ADDICTION that has escaped me since EQ and then Wow.......
It is just FUN and the plug ins available on the various servers only add to the options the game offers. If I did not know it WAS not an MMO......I'd think it was!
and no sub necessary........in fact no other costs after you buy the damn game and do about a 15 second DL.......
When someone gets smart and makes a Mindcraft clone with Graphics.......they will become rich overnight. In fact the game has sold over 7 million copies............
Try it.....You'll thank me later! Or hate me!
