I've only ran into a login issue once since starting on the 25th. Checked my email two days ago and had no other issues with logging in. But I have had other things that irk me about GW2. I'll save that for another day. One thing I don't get about ANet though is if they are suppose to be so proactive and not reactive about things, why did that make it a priority to make a mobile app but not a mobile authenticator? Just sayin. If you KNOW you game is highly anticipated wouldn't it behoove you to make that a top priority for your players?

To me it was a success, not perfect, but not nowhere close to a failure.
I had zero issues logging in, keep in mind I'm mostly a solo player.
My issues were the short operation time of the trading post (it lasted a few hours before it fully died) and the noticeable delay after completing the tutorial, due to overflow servers feeling far more crowded than the main ones, heh.
I had nowhere close to the headaches to make Diablo III work on lanch day but Guild Wars 1 release was far smoother, keep in mind both of those weren't technically MMOs.

EU players have been hit by log in issues the most since day one. However, the most crucial feature of GW2 is still broken after one week. Trading post...it seems as if it is really really screwed up and Anet can't figure out how to get it working.

Wow mail is broken again? please..please don't tell me so. I spent over 3 hours gathring resources to send to my alt who is in different racial area. Please say it ain't so.
I must always be one of the lucky ones. In pretty much every single MMO I've ever played, I've never seen 99% of the crap people bitch about when I play.
Only thing I've noticed is the TP is down. Yay, not even remotely close to game breaking.

Is this an alt on a different account? If so I undersatnd but if it's on the same account you can just deposit collectables and then just grab them on your alt through your bank.

You can store that in your bank (acct wide), should be no problem to trade stuff with your alts.
As many problems as has occurred so far, I would give it 2 more weeks before calling the launch a failure.
They DID fix the serious lag issues and random disconnects during early start.
By the third week if all the problems are still here, then can you say "Damn that was a failed launch"
Despite all the problems, the time I did spend in game, bug-free, I was having a blast. I guess peoples' frustration lies is the fact the game is so good, it sucks when you cannot login to play.

Different account!! we got three accounts between me and my wife.

Oh nice! I have three also between my wife, son, and myself. Leveling three different jobs and tyring to share gear is pretty hard with no mail so I completly undersatnd.

Today I lost guildchat AGAIN

Did not receive any whispers from a friend who wanted to party with me
Trade was either horribly laggy or down for maintanance AGAIN
Personal story bugged at level 30
I mean, I love this game, I really do, but after a week it is getting on my nerves....
WoW was like this for a MONTH! Rift had issues for 3 weeks. TSW had issues also. No game lauuched perfectly. The game, officially, has been out since August 28th - so it has been 4 days? Please, get real.
Love or hate Blizzard, They had a legitimate excuse. I am tired of reading about how wow had problsm so that makes it ok for ANet to have problems.
No one..but NO ONE could have predictied the number of players that WoW had. It blew away even the best case scenarios many times over. It had such consistant and rapid gowth that did not slow down for a long time nobody knew what to predict, no one knew when it would stabilize. However, ANet knew exactly what was going to happen with this game. They have no such excuse. Also, this is not the 1st MMO for ANet and NCSoft. It's been 8 years since WoW was launched. The industry has learned a few things since then. They have some experience, they should have been able to avoid this.
This arguement is a strawman and is not a valid comparrison.
so the REAL recap is this, based on your linked example.
The user didn't read the eula. bought too many gems, THEN proceeded to SPEND them even tho they knew they bought too many, and then wanted a refund.
now they are complaining because they spent the gems they didn't want to buy. it's like spending the overage that the welfare office sent you and wondering where your check is next month, and because you spent that money already there is no check. That's what i'm seeing here. Now he's flaming on reddit about it.
Oh and the EULA is the same for all gaming companies if you would present a reasonable case instead of spinning this story out of control people might be more likely to agree with you.
And finally, WoW DOES have a cash shop and sub, just because they have fewer items in it doesn't make it less of a cash shop.

not a strawman argument when it has literally only been a few days since launch. I agree get real. WoW had to rush to get devs support and new servers before it became a success and Blizz STILL had issues with D3 or did you forget error 37 already?
It's not like they pulled another companies example, the launch code for the game not even being the same as the code in final beta, the graphics not being able to be at max, and yet they got all 9/10 on every bought out review on the web.
Meh. With the game as big as gw2 and huge popularity, there are bound to be problems at launch.
Yes the trading post is down and can be a little frustrating. Yes there are hackers stealing vulnerable accounts.
I guess I am just one of those who has patience and faith in Anet to fix the problems over the next coming weeks and really enjoy the game as it is despite the issues and the graphical glitches i have been experiencing.
I know that in the end, the experience will only get better so I am not worried.

That is why the devs are putting notes out daily on the wiki where they are at with major issues. Why they are working 24/7. Because it went smooth. The fact is the head man of GW2 has said it's been bumpy and not as good as they hoped but they are working as hard as they can.
I know the rule here is mmorpg is choke full of complainers, this forum for GW2 is the most positive one I've seen.

I can see why Blizzard struggeld with WoW's launch. I didn't play D3 at all, Was that a failed launch
Edit:
For the record, I do not agree with the OP, I wouldn't call it a failed launch. A failed laucnch to me, would mean something like a roll back, or a wipe or if the game was unplayable for the majority of players for more than a couple days. None of that happened her, so, while it's a rocky start, it's not a failure. But My argument above, is that we cannot judge A-Net on the merits of Blizzard. Let's decide what Anet has done right and wrong based on what Anet has done.
I love Anet's commitment to their game. I think the launch has been stellar in terms of playability; servers are fine and the core mechanics pretty well.
However, their policy regarding glitches in Gem Transactions, and their continuing bullshit about how they can't possibly manage to run a simple forum alongside their game servers is just... wauw, pathetic to say the least

Yeah, Arenanet is giving a lot of mixed feelings to me too. I like them for many reasons but there are also far too many reasons that wants me to slap them.
