Combat looks stupid to me

Just seen this title today and checked the video out on the Overview tab.

The combat is pretty stupid if you ask me how they set it up. They got this annoying target system you move so your cone area is facing the target, then the monsters have the same thing which is really dumb idea. Basically seeing where a monster will attack you ahead of time with spells is dumb, it's made to easy for the player to avoid their attacks. Why do developers continue to try and dumb down things and make easier for the players??

I dunno, but to me this looks stupid. I do not want to know where ahead of time a monsters attack will go towards, I rather try avoid attacks using my own judgment for that better feel of gameplay. I dislike the idea of lining your cone up to attack targets with magics, is this for combat arts too? It all seems silly to me, however; the housing looks really good, but floating houses looks dumb, cluttering all the sky with that really sucks.
