New TV for console gaming

atomtanatomtan Member Posts: 106

We currently have a 12-year old 27" SDTV and found that we can get a deal on a new 32" 720p LED HDTV.  Our problem with some console games is not being able to read text..it's either too small or the characters are squished together.  My wife asked me a question that I was unable to answer, and so I bring it to the mmorpg.com community...Will those 5" and extra pixels make all the difference?

Don't worry, I already made the obligatory "You tell me if an extra 5" would make a difference."

Currently Playing: Nothing...I'm developing.

    Yes they will IMO.

Its a different experience in HD I think. But thats just my opinion.

The difference should be huge. You will start seeing color shades on your screen that you didn't know you had.

5" won't make as much of a difference as the HD will.

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.

If it's purely for console gaming, then a 1080p TV won't do much good if the console can't handle anything over 720p.  At the other end, if you have ideas about using it as a computer monitor (which I'm guessing you don't), 720p is too small to be functional.

That pretty much sums it up.

Regardless of which one you get, the new TV will be much sharper than what you currently have.
