First, let me state that I'm a crafter buy trait.
I've been playing mmos for some time now and one thing I've noticed is that Dev don't seem to add a timeline to games. What do I mean? Well, take FE for example. The idea is great and I love the crafting; but, after a while, it got boreing because you've crafted everything, pve'd everything and pvp'd everyone..lol So why not add content to slowing increase the tech? They could add the creation of walls, then roofs, chairs, etc. Then, after a while, inventions for electronics, improved everything. Before you know it, years down the road, we would have cities, flight, etc. Time goes on and we could take flight to space, etc. You get the point. This would almost guarantee subs abd keeping them. Ideas / thoughts?

Cost vs Benefit

i missunderstood what you had meant lol!i had thot you meant someone could craft the means to slow progression of opposite faction.like a rogue would go say in org and he would install a device made by one of his guild and org faction would then see a message saying all progression are slowed down to a crawl because of this or that guild!grin!imagine!a rogue drop a deleveler!everybody in the vincinity drop to level 79!cant access fuck all for say 4 hour!you have to find the deleveler and deactivate it!deactivation time 10 minute!
I thought of the cost factor. Wouldn't it be cheaper to upkeep / developement of a single game rather than build an entire new one? I guess the main thing for this type of game would be to build it on a graphics engine that can be changed, replaced and time goes on.
Probably because the game would change genres and eventually make most of the original assets useless.
the game would at some point just be a modern space game.
So all that work put in making stone tools to swords to muskets, etc would all be for naught.
Couple that with the idea that many people want to play within a specific genre and you will eventually have players who don't want a modern game leaving the game.
I know I tend to dislike space games/modern games so it wouldn't be my cup of tea. I do think there would be an audience for it. But again, a good amount of the assets would just be stepping stones to an eventual futuristic space game.
