Looking to start before 2.0 -- had some quick questions

I read many of the files on the official site explaining the transtion to the 2.0 and I was wondering how the game was playing right now in its current state. I won't have as much time during September/October, so was hoping there was still somewhat of an active crowd around, and if the game had improved tremendously from the terrible launch.
If anyone has some recent gameplay footage/SS's that would be great as well. Watching a couple of streams on twitch atm as well, but they haven't been very good

I'm just looking forward to the game engine rework. Cuz I can't play the game on full setting right now. Hopefully 2.0 will fix this.
