While cryptic has a shit poor reputation, even though they want to say how absultlutly awesome STO is, the issue I have at the moment is classes and races.
WHen this game releases it will have the least number of classes and races ever released for a AD&D game not by 5% but closeer to 30%.
No Paladin, Monk, Druid, Ranger, etc, No Gnome, Dwarf etc. why?
I wish I had faith with this company but seing how there is still no strong Klingon Facton in STO and no Romunlan I have no faith

Hard to judge Cryptic's responsibility for STO as a lot of it had to do with the production philosophy forced on them my Atari, we shall see if STO improves over the next year, and how well Neverwinter does, for which there is some good buzz from E3. A lot of newer games have less classes these days, as animations, effects, models etc cost more for a AAA title. PerfectWorld see Cryptic as their key to western markets and IPs, they may be willing to give them more time and budget than Atari ever was.
what game offers as few classes? as 4 and 4 races. Not Tera, not GW? no t Arche Age and none of those have a cannon that offer a lot more at start. Its Weak.
I dont know, the money-grab lock box keys were put in after several months with PWI, that sure is not something I prefer to see in games. I also dont see a lot of new content in STO in the 10 months or so since PWI purchased Cryptic. I dont hold out a lot of hope for this one. With it being F2P I'm sure I'll jump a bit with friends but all of us have been burned by poor Cryptic games in the past and it would take a monumental effort to get us to ever give Cryptic another nickle.
No Gnome, Dwarf, etc makes sense because of the reticle-oriented nature of combat versus their potential hitboxes... but the rest, yeah...

are you high? those classes are so D&D its not funny. Oh there to shory leave them out. Might as well leave Kobolds, Gobl, ins. Kvarts, Fairys. Spiders, Wolves and everything else taht is smaller then a human
Yeah, I'm not gonna argue with you if you have yet to understand how this game works *mechanically*.

you stated that short races would pose an advantage becuase of the targeting reticule. So your saying no short classes can be ain the game, awesome mechanic.
If you bothered to read the articles of E3 you'll know there is a hinting of that there will be a lot more classes at release, in any case Cryptic has already stated that they have a plan of releases of at least a year after launch and that includes classes. People are basing classes at launch with the original CoOp design, it's been a year so they had plenty of time to get some more classes in.
Have you even bothered reading up on this game? Cause if you did you would know that dwarves are a race at launch. GW2 originally had only what... 4 classes announced? They gave us a number of professions which Cryptic didn't, this appiies to all MMOs when they're in the developement stage.
ya, just don't be too surprised when you are paying for 'premium' races and classes.
as for keys and lockboxes, rumor has it GW2 store will be doing the very same thing. you can find the keys ingame, but i think we can all imagine what the drop rate for those will be like.

One could be called finite, the other infinite.
A finite game is played for the purpose of winning,
an infinite game for the purpose of continuing play."

I have your bothered looking at what Crypic has promised in the past for there games and what they delivered, they are one of the most despised game companies on the planet.
I love AD&D and to see this company who has a muddy and shaddy background to develope it disturbs me, but then again I bet you think STO is the second coming of christ.
Um, Dwarves are a playable race. It says so on the main site. Also, something tells me that some class specialization will let Warriors play as paladins, rogues as rangers, etc. Even if it isn't the class by name, it will still probably play like it.
Also, this is Cryptic we are talking about. You know, the people constantly releasing new archetypes and powers for Champions Online, and new ships and officers (and occationally races) for Star Trek Online? They might not have a lot of classes or races ready on the release date, but the list will eventually grow (admittedly most of them will be available in the cash shop).
Besides, why are you complaining about a lack of Gnomes when you should be complaining about a lack of Dragonborn and Genasi?
Since when is Tuesday a direction?
Did you even read your statement? One of the most despised game companies on the planet? How? what have they done to deserve that title? They made games that deliver on all promises that are realistic and offer customization above most games. Sure PVP is lacking in some games, but as a non-PVPer, that doesn't bother me at all.
Also, what muddy and shady background? I found absolutely none. Are you sure you are talking about Cryptic?
P.S. STO isn't the second coming of christ. Allods Online is, or was until it was almost killed with a piss poor cash shop.
Since when is Tuesday a direction?
I'll definitely be playing this game if it's even remotely similar to the original. My First MMO was Neverwinter Nights on AoL (yeah I know it wasn't a true neverwinter like today, but it was still fun), and I've played every single one since.
This game is #1 on my list atm. We need more info!
This version is not based on AD&D its based on 4th edition D&D which is not like AD&D I guess you didn't read up on it that much they have not released any real info on races or classes except what they showed at Pax East and E3 so we will have to wait what they have said is the game will feature most of the common races which are human elf dwarf halfling gnome was not in the start of 4th edition came latter and they have said Tiefling will be one and the classes are based on the new class system in 4th edition think more in line with a mmo I guess but its what others say. This game has been in dev for over 2 years almost 4 they have been in talks and have changed concepts alot and now are in full blown dev for at least 2+ years. The game is due out this year tho and if they pull that off I will be happy cause it will give me one more game to play besides GW2, Aion, Fallen Earth, DCUO, And many others. This game will be another game to paly for me.

Well duh,, ->F2P<- .. expect grab bags and "class" sales , weapon and cloth skins and building blocks / sets for the foundry.
and besites grab bags im sure the stuff will be fair enough, P never was that bad whit the exception fo grab bags, they just cant get rid of those and anyone ever buying a grab bag is either very rich or very stupit. (i bin stupit in the past)
How many clases do you want in a game like STO? Look at Fallen Earth or EVE, no classes just specialization of the character. Who here has played the beta for Neverwinter? Every MMO that comes out is compared to WOW, like its the gold standard, how many classses in wow play similar to each other?
