EDGE is a primarily North American community of like-minded gaming enthusiasts, and a casual-hardcore guild in Guild Wars 2. Why casual-hardcore? We don’t require members to make “85% of scheduled events”; we do not ask our members to schedule their lives around a game. We are hardcore is that we do expect, and require, a few things of our members.We understand that we all in a world that comes with much more important obligations of its own. Those things we require are commitment, betterment as an individual as well as a team player, consistent activity, and open communication.

We are hardcore in the sense that when we are in game, we aim to get things done, but that is not to say that we do not socialize and have a good time. When it comes time to face our opponents on the Eternal Battleground, we will stand and deliver in a structured and organized manner. When it comes time to lay down the hammer and get things done, we do so.

We have two divisions within EDGE. The first is our primary division, and is for those players who have the time to dedicate to the majority of scheduled events. As said above, we realize that members have lives outside of the game, and we also realize that the majority of players like to play with their friends. Due to this, we also have a “friends and family” division, to which the name may be a bit misleading. This division is for those who still want to be a part of the action, but due to real life obligations might not be able to dedicate the time that other players may have, and still want to be a part of all the events we schedule and things we take part in.

PvP

At its heart, EDGE is a PvP community. That is not to say that we disregard PvE; we take an active roll in all content. PvP is where our primary focus lies, and members are encouraged to seek out and create teams for structured PvP as well as actively participate in WvW during down time (that being time with no scheduled events). We encourage our members to, ultimately, participate in whatever keeps them interested in the game.

WvW
WvW is a very big part of Guild Wars 2, and is the basis of our alliance as well. WvW events shall be scheduled weekly, and attendance at these events is expected and asked of all members. If you cannot make it we ask that you let us know ahead of time. Members is in game during these times are participating in WvW with one of the available squads.

Activity
In both divisions, we expect our members to maintain consistent activity and open communication. Being an active member of this community means being online regularly and taking part in scheduled events. We all have obligations outside of gaming along with hobbies and social lives. What we ask is that our members learn to balance all of these things well enough to be active within EDGE.

Communication
Like any organized community or guild, we host a website that is the central form of communication in feedback, events, and participation. We ask that all potential members register on our website and fill out an application to help to keep track of numbers and members in an organized fashion. We also ask, and expect, members to check our site regularly, and actively participate in discussions via our forums.

TeamSpeak is our primary and central form of communication. We ask that all applicants have TeamSpeak, as hopping in is a part of our interview process. TeamSpeak is how we will communicate during down time in the game, during WvW events, during guild meetings, as well as a method through which we can convey ideas and strategy.

Recruitment
Our recruitment is handled through an application process that takes place on our site, and may continue on into TeamSpeak for a series of interviews.
Our general age for consideration of applications is 18, but exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis.

Applicants are expected to:

• Be capable of teamwork, following instruction, and able to take and give constructive criticism (keyword: constructive).
• Play with a positive attitude and interact in a pleasant manner, regardless of circumstance. Sadly, we cannot win them all, but we sure can try.
• Humility; “Speak softly and carry a big stick”.
• The desire to better themselves as an individual as well as a team player.

Alliance
EDGE is a part of the Ascension Alliance. This Alliance is run democratically by the guilds within, and it focused on WvW domination. The guilds that make up Ascension are:
