Weatherstock 4 is due to happen on the Landroval server June 16th from 4pm server time to 8pm. This is an epic 4 hour "Battle of the Bands" on top of Weathertop. Prize monies will be at least 300 gold. we have 10 bands entering and registration is closed. 9 of the 10 bands are from other servers, so this event will be truly "international"!
This event has been mentioned in PC Gamer magazine, and BBC news has picked it up. Middle Earth Network, Casual Stroll to Mordor, and many Player blogs have featured this happening. If you should like to attend this once a year event, roll an alt on Landy and get yourself out of the beginner zone. Make your way to the Forsaken Inn and prepare for escorting to the top of Weathertop. Last year attendance was between 500 to 600. Prepare for epic lag until we all get settled down. We will provide security and escorting multiple region wide. We also will have a "freak out" zone for those with lesser computers. This event will be tweeted, broadcast live on Middle Earth Network and just about any other media way it can be transmitted. If anyone who reads this has attended past Weatherstocks please drop a line here and give your impression.
Rather than link many sites about Weatherstock here, just do a google search for weatherstock and check out a YouTube or two on it. Brought to you by The Lonely Mountain Band of Landroval. alesandtales.com
Sorry about the double post. Almost forgot! We will have our 2nd annual "Smokeout" midway through the performance! This is not to be missed by itself! for your safety, all brown Lembas will be confiscated.
Bumping for freshness and visibilty. It looks as if there will be a horse caravan in the minutes prior to the start of Weatherstock. We expect there to be over 100 riders , possibly 200, leaving the Forsaken Inn. If you like horse processions you might want to check it out. If you lag excessively during the caravan, this will be a sign you will have to adjust your settings to very low indeed. Weatherstock vendors will be handing out ale, smoke, and hope tokens at the Forsaken Inn for a time before we head out so make sure you have room in yer bags. Hope tokens cannot be used by players under level 15 so beware of that.
The community of Landroval has been exceptionally warm and inviting to all of the "international" bands. On behalf of all of us at LMB a huge /hug-/kiss to all of ye!
While everyone knows the kind of lag we will be experiencing, there is a general hope we will exceed last years 500-600 attendance figures. Our advertising has put out feelers to many game related sites and we definitely encourage anyone to give this event "word of mouth". The GMs at Turbine/Warner use this event to stress test the server so lets give em something to stress! There is still time to start an alt and get ready for that big day.
It looks like there will be no less than 300 gold (300,000 silver) to be divvied up between the 3 winning bands. Two of those categories will be determined by the crowd so let us know when you are raptured by any performance! Using Hope Tokens after a performance is your way to vote!
It is expected that "Casual Stroll to Mordor" will live broadcast this event. We also expect color commentary from Galenhir, the founder of The Lonely Mountain Band. He and Harperella, and kin member, Bowlin brainstormed the first Weatherstock so many years ago. So be sure and get that page bookmarked. The lower audio setting works best for that site.
