I am trying to start a community of yaoi gamers so we can play some good mmorpgs. I would start a guild for yaoi gamers to come and connect and play with one another.
Im making our own little website and I would need a couple moderators. So if you are interested in becoming a moderator then just PM me instead.

Actually, in Japan "Yaoi" is generally aimed at women and young girls. I don't quite get it, but it's appeal is far broader than gay men, although ironically the reverse "Yuri" is also aimed at girls, as has been ever since the whole Sailor Uranus/Neptune thing. Art aimed at gay men tends to fall more into the "Bara" category.

I'm assuming their intent is to role-play male characters. Given the ambiguity of the initial post, that is about all I could infer from it, given we're discussing an MMORPG guild and not an anime/manga viewership/readership group. Heh.
seeing the topic of this thread made me chuckle.
ps. i've met lots and i mean LOTS of girl gamers who are really into Yaoi, its not as uncommon as people think.

Sorry, but having Japanese friends (which the term "Yaoi" comes from) means "Male Homosexual" loosely translated.
The word you're looking for I believe is "gei" (source). "Yuri" is for homosexual females.
I think you need to change the name of your title, or stop using the term "Yaoi". You're using it improperly, and it might be insulting to "Yaoi" gamers. Just saying

Using "Gei" or "Gay" would be more towards what you're looking for to say though.

Hilarious. I'm guessing the Wikipedia definition is what the OP is going for: girls who like homosexual soft-core porn/scenes. What a weird thing to revolve a gaming community around. It seems like more of an interest than a defining feature. Sure, I could understand people who are writers, people who are over a certain age, or work in a certain field. But girls who like homosexual male scenes?

OP is using the correct term that is widely accepted as referring to BoyxBoy love. Some of you gentlemen are such hypocrites. Do none of you fawn over the image of two naked women intimatly embracing....well women sometimes fawn for 2 guys...it's just the Yaoi group prefer if they look very ...very very feminine/boyish (no body hair, very slender, great hairstyles).

i was under the impression every male character in a JRPG/eastern MMO was a femboy to begin with. Like i'm currently playing TERA and lol....god those human/elven/castanic males...can you even call them males? Just give the females d*cks and get some futa action goin' on, draenie style.
in my opinion, there needs to be more love for the 'gay bisexual jewmormons that may or may not be suffering from irritable bowel syndrome*' guilds, aka GBJTMOMNBSFIBS, for short.

except guild requirements state that you must be on voice-chat constantly and also, 2 days a week you must have webcam sessions with a femboymanperson (guild leaders will have one appointed to you)
Yaoi isn't the Japanese word for male homosexuality, it's definitely talking about a specific genre of Japanese comics, mostly oriented towards women... that deals with male homosexuality.
.... and by extension, at least in the US, yaoi community has come to mean those who enjoy yaoi works, since there's a notable shortage of ACTUAL Japanese comic characters running around starting guilds. (Also, considering once or twice a year I sell Japanese comic porn for a weekend, I probably know what I'm talking about. Uhm. Actually, sadly, that's why I missed playing the GW2 BWE on Friday... selling porn.

Actually, joining this sort of guild is probably a good way to mostly find yourself in a guild with 95% women, and gay guys (Who won't be competing with you for women)
That being said, this reminds me of a post I wrote on another forum once, because somebody started a topic called 'How can I date a girl who likes anime?'. Uhm. Please don't take offense, this is meant tongue in cheek, and any ways I make anybody looks bad, is purely meant as uh.... parody. That being said, just for future reference.... (Because SOMEBODY might find this handy)

First off, you have to think about yourself! You need to change yourself around to make sure you will be attractive to said girls. So, in approximate order, here are the steps that will best increase your chances! It helps if you actually do as many of these as possible.
1. Be born Japanese.
2. Be born Korean.
3. Groom yourself regularly, including showers (Yes. Being Japanese is MORE important than this, somehow)
4. Be born almost any other sort of Asian.
5. Be gay.
6. Really love yaoi, and act quite gay, without actually being so. (At least, that's what you tell yourself)
7. Be really attractive.
8. Be really fun.
9. Be extremely confident.
10. Be an asshole.
11. Be clever and funny.
Okay. If you've gotten this far and NONE OF THESE apply to you, your chances are pretty much shot for anybody acceptable by normal human standards. Luckily for you, you're an anime fan, and you're looking for a girl who likes anime, so there's still plenty of chances to be acceptable by lesser standards!
12. Like the yaoi pairings she likes.
13. Like the anime series she likes.
14. Pretend like you like stuff she likes.
15. Like different anime stuff, but at least it's all from Japan, so you're good.
16. Don't be covered in funk.
17. Don't be TOTALLY covered in funk.
18. At least use too much cologne to cover it up.
19. Threaten to hurt yourself if she doesn't return your love.
20. Actually hurt yourself until she dates you out of pity.
Okay! Hopefully by now you've picked enough attractive traits to get your girl! Maybe next time I'll actually get to the part as to where to find a girl, and how to pick one out, but this is a good start!
This is the single-most absurd thing i've ever read. You should NEVER change yourself to "fit" someone else's ideal idea of what you should look like.
I'm not saying you can walk around in your underpants with a massive butterbelly & "funk" all over you. For godsakes, keep yourself clean, but you should never try to change who you are for someone else. If they don't like you for what & who you are they don't deserve a moment of your time, because it'll only make you feel like crap.
Additionally, there are MANY forms of what "Yaoi" actually means. For how it is actually used in JAPAN it means Boy on Boy action (ie: Male specific Homosexuality). I haven't seen a SINGLE japanese person posting here on this topic, but then again neither am I. I'm only going off what my friend in Japan says (born & raised).

I'm pretty sure any list that starts off with 'be born Japanese' isn't meant as a serious guide on how to change yourself. Just saying.
Yaoi has a specific definition though, in Japan. It might be used to refer to male on male sex by some people, but it is specifically based off of a fairly recently created terminology (From the 80s). It's shorthand for 'Yama nashi, ochi nashi, imi nashi ', which means 'no climax, no finale, no plot' (I might have gotten one of those words wrong, but still), and comes from the doujinshi (Self published works) scene.
It's actually outdated terminology for referencing male-on-male comics in Japan, since the more generic BL or Boy's Love term has come into vogue.
Also, I'm fairly sure that your conversation went more like this with your friend 'What's yaoi?' 'Gay male stuff', rather than 'What is the proper terminology to refer to a gay male in Japan' 'yaoi'. :T
