Thinking of getting a new keyboard, it will be in my gaming room. I generally don't let a lot of light inside there, actually I'm thinking about walling over the 1 window all together. Point being that I'm looking for a gaming keyboard with lights preferably not blue, the g11 feels like a mistake in that regard.
I'm looking at the G19 right now but any suggestions would be appreciated.

Steelseries Merc Stealth. Left side is a lot like the Wolfking design.
Looks pretty sexy, I'm liking the color options. I get to change the color on the fly, or they just come in so many different colors?
Change on the fly.
I find compact or tenkeyless boards to be much more ergonimical for gaming purposes. The overall length of the board allows me to keep my mouse and keyboard arms closer together and positioned more centrally to the seat and monitor. After gaming this way now, I could never go back to a large board. Not for everyone, but something to think about
If your into something more compact.
Wolfking Warrior Pad
Wolfking Warrior XXtreme (Takes getting use to)
Cyber Snipa
Most of the above require some light to use as they are not illuminated but the Wolfking Warrior XXtreme does illuminate (Blue).
APM = Actions per Minute
What I like about the ones I've posted above and the Merc Stealth and the Wolfking Timberwolf is that they actually increase APM which is why I consider these "Gaming" and I don't consider most others as "Gaming".
Wolfking Timberwolf
Combine any of the above with a Razer Naga or Razer Hex and your APM goes through the roof.
Razer Naga
Razer Hex
To me it isn't a gaming keyboard unless it's designed to increase your APM. Macro's are secondary for me. I was a hardcore strategy gamer for a long time though :P
Been using this series for years. Best keyboard i ever had. I tried changing to other keyboards (even real expensive high-end ones, which are now packing dust), just for variety and because they look cool, but nothing can match the layout on those left keys.
I also have had the same one for years. I play way too much and its ergonomical design alleviated some pain I was having. The keypad to the left also allows for better access to hotkeys. A button swtiches the color from red to blue to purple. One of the best purchases I have ever made (I am 41 with a house and a car so its a big statement lol).
why not Logitech G13?
I have a friend who swears by those Wolfking's
However my board of choice is the Noppoo Choc Mini w/ Cherry MX Reds
Unfortunately after some research, there aren't too many small form-factor boards that have LED lighting. OP is probably better off with that surfboard
Been through so many keybords over the years, but finally settled on the G19, have to say its heads and shoulders above most. The screen although small is fantastic, you can actually watch videos on it if so inclined and play game at same time
I linked mine to my NAS and can stream music and all that too.
Colour features and Macros are unsurpassed.
Some mechanical keyboards are decent enough, but they normaly have an exuberant price tag that come with them, and those with reasonable price have ittle in the way of features.
Oh it also needs to be plugged into mains (I didnt realise when ordered)
I would 100% +1 the G19 unless...
You have a X58 motherboard - there is a pain in the ass issue that logitech canno't resolve - resets the board every now and them - I use it for combat logging on mmorpg's and it loses connection.
Don't expect too much in the way of games compatible with it, they are few. And even fewer that support Color. ACT (combat parser does though and I can not live without it now)
You use the ESC key an awfull lot, you will find yourself pressing the G1 key which is positioned top left. But you do get used to it.
There is one keybpardthat i would take over this one the Optimus Maximus - All keys are LED's and can change when press shift, have a gaming profile they show nades, arrows ect...
But they are the price if a PC....

Totally honest review, has its quirks, you won't be dissapointed.

i do love my sidewinder x4.
simple, red lights that you can dim, 18 macro keys +anti ghosting,
only minor issue is thats a glare keyborad... so it gets very dusty fast.
other then that, great keyboard for not to much $$
I 3930k -- Rampage IV Extreme -- G.skill RipjawsZ 32 GB -- Corsair Force Series 3 120gb -- G.skill Phoenix Pro 60gb -- WD 1 TB Black -- Corsair H 100 -- Thermaltake Level 10 Gt Snow Edition -- Corsair AX1200 -- Asus 560 Ti Sli -- Microsoft Sidewinder X4 -- Logitech G5 -- DELL UltraSharp 2007FP -- Samsung Syncmaster Sa700 -- Logitech Z2300 -- Logitech G35 -- Logitech G600 White -- coming soon : Dell U2711.
The logitech G15 is a good one and its wired. i know alot like wireless keyboards but to me wired only way to go.
i think most gamer still go for wired ones. same with a mouse.
the response time, +added featrues as lights etc.

I tested many keyboards and mice over the last few years. In some games I prefer a certain keyboard over the other, same as wit the mice.
Mostly I use the Razer Lycosa and Steelseries 7g as main keyboards.. Mice I use: Cyborgrat 7 and Steelseries Sensei. These four are my real favorites...giving me the best feel and touch...But of course, its your personal preference that count. Go and test if you can.
Played: Guild Wars, AoC, Lotro, CoH, Warhammer, Tabula Ras, Spellborn, Second Life, Rift, Aion, Tera.
Playing: Guild Wars 2, WoT
The G19 is overpriced for what you get, and issues with the little color screen can impact your whole machine. Not sure why, but it can (friend had one).
The Logitech G510 or the G110 both look good and have a good feature set for the price. Both have integrated USB audio (cables connect to your keyboard, not your P.C.). Not sure the G510 is worth the extra $, but it has all the features of the G110, plus the small B/W display board on the keyboard itself.
I'd like to recommend a Razer keyboard, but their keyboards seem to be middling to good instead of great. Saitek makes a good keyboard, but I don't know about their new ones...mine is five years old and I have no reason to replace it yet. A friend has the Merc keyboard and loves it. I also had a Wolfking, and it was good, but a lack of shift keys on both sides of the board made more than 12 hotkeys a bit painful - it was an improvement over a regular keyboard, but not 'great'.
The many buttoned Razer Naga is actually really good for MMORPG. However, it's not much good for anything else. Of the people I know who have one (4 people), 1 of them just can't use it because of the size of the mouse - it's on the small side. Everyone else uses it for MMORPG exclusively. They won't touch another mouse for an MMORPG. It makes features on a gaming keyboard superfluous. You just need the backlighting and decent WASD keys.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
Love my G510.

Im going to +1 the steelseries merc stealth.
Ofc if you have money to burn (250$ + tax) , get the SWTOR keyboard just to watch youtube in the trackpad. O.O OR you can get the cheaper logitech one with the screen...

I recently picked up the Razor Black Widow Ultimate Stealth edition to go along with Razor Naga and I couldn't be happier. I too have been through my fair share of various styles of Keyboards over the years (Steel Series, Logitech G series, etc..) and this one if bar none my favorite. Fully backlit (every individual key mind you) with adjustable brightness settings accompanied by every MMO's gamers favor Macro keys. It also happens to be mechanical which after having tried I don't think I could ever go back to anything less, regardless of any other options offered. It appears to have either recently dropped in price or is on sale because newegg has it listed at $96.99, a full $33.00 off it's original retail price the one I paid no more than a month ago. Still worth every penny.

You are correct, that might explain the drop in price over the non stealth version. I'm fairly certain you will be very happy with your new keyboard of course I am a bit biased ;p
Same, no ty for wireless.

I was looking on newegg at this and it did not state it was win 7 supported. It just went to vista. Is that really the case?

I'm going to second the Razer Blackwidow series or at least mechanical keyboards in general.
Using one just now and it's by far the best keyboard I've used yet. If you don't want blue switches there are other options out there for mechanical keyboards that are in a similar price range to most high end 'gaming' keyboards that will let you pick what switches and stuff you want.
I'm done paying over the odds for keyboards that are essentially the same as your bog standard keyboard that cost a few dollars to buy. The only difference for the 'gaming' keyboards is the key layout and added software, the underlying technology is no different.
