Well I am on the 14 day trial and guess what I cant log in because Eve limits the number of free trial people to 800.
While I like the game and will probably get it when the trial is over I dont understand the limt.
Seems to me they would do everything they could to make you feel welcome.
How does having more than 800 people using the free trial affect anything ??
Seems CCP needs a course in PR.

Its quite simple really, the server is already very busy at peak times, and if they allowed 2000 people on trial to suddenly jump in we would get quite a large increase in lagg.
When i did my trial 5 motnhs ago, the 800 slots were never taken for me however.
Ahh but you see, they would upgrade servers for PAYING subscribers.
its also to prevent lots of current subscribers abusing the free trial system with loads of trail accounts doing stuff like mining...
raising the limit to 2000 probably woulnt affect the servers too much, i doubt they've hit that limit all that often (and its probably only saturday's and sunday's that the 800 limit is anywhere near being reached).

PvE in general is pretty lame, if you think long and hard about it. You are spending your time beating a severely gimped AI that would lose to a well trained monkey. Best not to think too long and hard why you are wasting time playing games in general actually...
I've been playing for 3-4 weeks and the first 2 were a trial. I never got denied due to the 800 newbie limit. In fact I never had a problem logging in. And I've never noticed a problem with lag.
Because you were denied entry I wouldn't hold that against the game or their systems.
Take a look at the metering of the system at www.eve-i.com Right hand side of front page.
It list 12849 connections on 2/4/05 as the all time high. I was playing when that was hit and didn't notice a thing.
I think the Eve infrastructure and support has matured to a very stable and reliable system.
Something I hope WOW can get to soon -I'm getting tired of that red lag bar.
The limit are there to prevent alt mining from alredy subscribers
has nothing too do with the system performance
you must be the one of the unlucky who even been denied acces to the servers
but right now CCP are making a drive with trails account
I would relogg and try after 30s
Free 14Days EVE-Online "Trials & Guides" EVE-O Skills Sheet
..odd not that long ago the most trial users I ever saw online was about 290. Did some magazine hand out trials or something?
It depends on when they log in as to how many are on. Then MMORPG.com here is giving 14 day trails to its users and current paying EVE Online users can give buddy trail accounts that last 7 days I think.
The trials from the buddy program are now 14 day trials. As for the limit, let's face it, CCP is a business and they want to get you in to get a look around and see if you might be interested in dropping some cash on their product. They are not giving away free accounts. Besides 14 days is not enough time to get fully into the game, only to get an idea and get your feet wet. As a business, would you give away your product as a "sample" to the point where it negatively affected your paying customer? It's not that they have hardware issues, as much as you want to jump on that bandwagon and it's easy, they are more concerned about a ton of "free" accounts affecting the real players experience in a negative way, swinging the markets, being a bunch of snerts, etc. But whatever, this seems more like a troll to get CCP bashing going than being thankful there is any kind of trial, which costs nothing, for a person to get an idea of what the game is about.
Cheers!
