And Im bored . I beat the beta 2x now, wishing there was a harder mode. I may buy the game, but if I can beat the whole thing in 3days Im going to be very unsatified. Im going to hold off on pre-purchasing this game. With all the things theyve removed from it, and the fact that you cant really be unique in anything. Runes? Eh... little to no effect. I dunno maybe I havent had hours of gameplay, but it just seems empty to me after awhile.

Blizzard is making diablo 3 more for WoW fans instead of Diablo 2 fans, so it wouldnt surprise me if it could be finished with a few days and it probaly wont be overly difficult either.
Atleast you got in, the patcher is a nightmare for me to get this downloaded and patched. Ive been troubleshooting for a couple hours now. Its become a real turn off.
I don't plan on buying the game, but I'd have to take your view with several grains of salt. You sound like a hardcore gamer suffering from burnout and therefore wouldn't represent my casual perspective on gameplay nor its longevity. It would be nice when people give their points of view or even reviews of games, that they state specifically the type of gamer they are so that readers are not misled by skewed perspectives.
I suppose that could describe me. Ive been playing games a long time. Nothing is new anymore . Dont get me wrong, when I first starting playing the beta I was like 'I definately want to get this.' But as it went on and I played a few more hours, I was like. "Eh..." But GW2 will probably have the same effect. I need a new hobby
I uninstalled the beta a while back, because I didn't want to ruin the experience for myself. Is the level cap still only 13 with an end at the Skeleton King?
Diablo on normal difficulty isn't a big deal I remember in D2 u can go with ur character lvl 80+ back to normal and kill diablo with 1 hit....
I don't think there is a level cap in beta but I could be wrong. But yes, you cannot go past the Skeleton King. I was really disappointed about this because I was having a TON of fun and didn't want it to end. But the game comes out in less then a month so I guess I should just sit tight and wait.
Somebody on the beta forums was mentioning that Blizz didn't want people to ruin the story so i'm guessing there's a major story arc after the skeleton king. Just a guess.
I wonder if you ever played the Diablo series? If you had, you would know it wasn't about beating the game on normal and then hanging the towel.
I remember there was a patch or something like that of D2 where you start from the lvl 1 playing like hell difficulty and it was fucking hard, my friend and I give up at lvl 30 we couldn't beat the 3rd chapter
1+
I never played the original but did play D2 and i'm avoiding the beta at this point.I get D3 free for the AP with WOW and i'm going to wait until launch to play.I'm eager but will wait.
It was for me. The idea of doing the exact same thing over and over and over makes no sense to me. Repetitive and mind numbing. No thanks!
Dont get me wrong, I played me some Torchlight, and was delighted when I learned Diablo was the orignitor of this style of gameplay. But when I play Diablo3, I get none of the same 'dynamic content' feeling. But as Ive made a disclaimor before, Ive only played a few hours of it, and only the first act, or 'tutorial zone' as you could call it.
My mood may change ocne it comes out and I see others play it. For now, Im stuck until that day. Thankfully it comes out soon.
Not trying to piss on anyone's parade... but it's been in beta notes for a while; what they're allowing you to see in the beta (if it's still ending at the Skeleton King encounter) is just the tutorial level.
That's why I uninstalled it. I didn't want to burn myself out repeating the same limited crap over and over again, when there is going to be a LOT more to do once the game goes live.
Did anyone go to BlizzCon and see the desert-and-sandstorm level they were letting convention-goers play in?
It may not live up to people's expectations, but I'm seriously wondering how someone that just hopped into a tutorial level segment of the beta could write off the whole game based on that small portion of the game?
I don't look at D3 the same way I look at a full fledged MMORPG though. It's more of a dungeon crawler for me, so I'm sure I'll enjoy it's competitors too. Path of Exile looks interesting, so does Torchlight II, and I'm definitely going to check out Lineage: Eternal.
I like games, I can't claim to know how the entire "full version" of Diablo 3 will play out, so I'm not going to try to sell anyone on it's "claims", but I'm not going to judge the entire game on a small segment of a limited beta experience.
I did. It feels and plays just like D2. Some people might like the nostalgia, but I played the hell out of d2 and d1 for years and simply tire of it.
Blizzard has been known to improve and polish genres; this falls short in both respects. It offers absolutely nothing new and the shallow gameplay (combat paricularly) simply kills it for me.
Some people might want the old D2 back reskinned, I don't. This is just the exploitation of nostalgia for a quick buck. This game, for its time, is nowhere comparable to D2 and certainly not D1.
If this game is the quality this new Blizzard is supposed to deliver, I can't foresee them growing as a company.
This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.
Exactly how does the length of time a person has to play skew anything ? OP wrote a review with his thought,s if you want to know more dont be lazy go play yourself .
you have no idea about diablo, do ya?
this is nothing unexpected, the last beta (d2) was exactly the same.
believe me when i tell you, you wont be able to beat diablo 3 in 3 days.
and if you think runes do not make a change, well, you are dead wrong again sir.
"I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up! Not me!"
Then you are not really a Diablo fan now are you? Diablo had a lot more to it than beating normal. IT had a lot more to it than beating Hell. The really challenging part of the game was the PvP. I've played a hundred or so builds in PvP to experiment what works and what doesn't. For some of the builds I did tons of calculations and testing. I found the game fun because I experimented with my stat and skill choices and most importantly gear choices to squeeze every single bit of advantage over my opponents. I could tell if someone knew what they were doing simply by looking at their gear.
But then again I played DIablo for a very long time and I min maxed the crap out of it. That was fun. Gear choices was the most important thing in that game. Then I played MMOs and well their itemisation is a huge letdown compared to Diablo.
Without playing Diablo 3 at max level I can't say if the game has the same level of complexity Diablo had in its PvP. They haven't even patched the PvP in...
