This was just leaked on EQ forums

I wanted to be the first to let you know that we're giving everyone on a recurring Gold Membership some free items.

We'll have more information about this on Friday but when we release the news article and when the Email hits your inbox, it's going to tell you that if you are on a recurring Gold Membership under the 1 month recurring plan, we're giving you one of our Big Bags and some food and drink that gives some benefits. And if you are on a 3 month recurring plan or better, you're going to get a Bigger Bag + XP potions + Consigned Armor + Mercenary Contract and a few other potions, food and drink. If you're not signed up to receive emails, you might want to go into your account and click to receive the information.

Also, if you are not currently on a recurring Gold Membership Plan, there will be some additional information on how you can take advantage of this offer as well this weekend, starting on Friday.

And here I pay them the same amount every month as a "recurring" sub, only I pay with SC which I can purchase using PayPal because there's no damn way in the nine levels of Hell SOE/Sony are ever getting my credit card details. Not only am I a second class customer even though I pay the same amount of money such that I don't get the "free" 500 SC every month with my payment, but now I don't get the "goodies" either. Well, guess I'll just drop down to Silver next time I'm up for renewal and then i won't feel bad i'm not getting as much as paid players because I won't be one.

While I don't mind getting cool stuff like this, you definitely have a point. That's pretty messed up that it's like that. Although I do pay with a card, I am pretty selective as to which one I pay with lol.

I sympathize with your security issues but its also cheaper to pay with SC than recurring

with X2 SC promotions which happen like 5 times a year, you can buy a year sub for 50.00  -- half price!!

^^ yup recurring subscribers pay the full monthly price, while those using SC get half off, or even more if you bought your SC during triple sc holiday.  With your savings you can buy a large bag and other goodies if you want to, and still end up paying the same as someone paying via recurring.

You "may" pay the same amount.

 

You could easily wait for double station points and actually pay half price.... so there are benefits to either method.  In reality, $15 a month or $7.50 a month.  Oh look you can even throw in the 500 points you get for another 2.50 so $10 gets you your 1 month and 500 points.  It is cheaper and you do not have to wait for your 500 points.

 

So I do not really see how this is unfair.  Take your savings and purchase the items if you want them.  Or pay more money to be subscription gold.  Or your welcome for telling you how to purchase the game for cheaper.
