Yeah so today is a shitty day, i got my 8th email from MMORPG mod closing my post or reply.
All I said was guildwars2 fanboys are like cockroaches , Any time i've mentioned that game in an bad fashion even in a non critical manner My posts have been taken down or deleted, I even recieved a ban for a few for it. I don't like where this website is going with all the paid mods greifing critical posts .
So im done here clearly you can't get a full opinion.
Comments
I think calling people cockroaches would be considered a personal attack.
I think if they allowed that I would not like where this site was going. It needs to be consistant and fair though. I don't know the entire story. . but a little less negativity might help the entire community here.
Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is!
To be fair the person above me said Guildwars 2 hatas are like cockroaches, so i was mearly pushing it back to him.
Two wrongs do not make a right.
No but people often swear and say much worse, lets be honost here cockaroach as a term for people who spread over things isn't even that offencive, The mod was obviously just taking down a guildwars 2 critical post. Come on now really? you sound brainwashed.
They may have gotten the same email or response also....moderation is not instant...I know, I am banned for life from my NFL teams forum lol...
My opinion, your comment was a bit inflamatory so I can see why it was moderated. However, I get what you are saying. I miss the MMORPG of old. I liked that these forums where a bit on the "wild west" side of things. I understand what they are trying to do to make it a more positive place but now it just feels like your average overly PC "play nice kids" kinda place. I guess the entire MMO culture is changing to be more mass consumer friendly...
A man is his own easiest dupe, for what he wishes to be true he generally believes to be true...
In terms of how quick they are to migrate to the message boards of other games in order to trash those games, you should have used the comparison of locusts rather than cockroaches.
Locust doesn't have the negative connotation attached to it that cockroach does. Just a helpful hint.
Obviously. There is no way it could be related the the thing you admitted you did, everyone agreed was against the rules, and odds are was cited in the message why action was taken.
You'll think what you want to think, and when no one agrees with you odds are you'll blame it on some kind of pro-guildwars propaganda. But when often the most simple solution is the correct one, stop name-calling.
Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.
and I'm banned from Chowhound.com forever. Go figure!
This is pretty much what we get all the time. The "you take down negative posts for game XYZ because you are paid off, etc, etc". I personally review complaints many times per week from users about mods doing this (and other things) and 99% of the time when I review the post they violate our rules WHILE criticizing a game (or the people that like it in this case).
To the OP - your post is insulting to PEOPLE and obviously just a bait post to try and stir up others. Please read our rules and you will see that you violated them on a couple levels.
We do not delete posts that criticize a game just because it is critical of a game. Almost always there is another part of your post that broke our rules...not the part where to talked down on a game. I mean just look at our forums, we allow people to talk negatively about all games - but you have to do it constructively and without insulting other members or groups of people.
In other words, try to act civil - like you would if all these people were in the same room with you - instead of using "Internet bravery" ;-)
Also note that per our rules, when you criticize a game you need to bring an argument to the table. Filling our forums with "this game sux!" posts is not allowed. If you do not like a game, or something about it - explain your case and resist the temptation to be rude about it. Honestly, I have never seen our mods delete a well written critique on a game, no matter how much the poster despised the game.

I have been waiting on an MMO to introduce the "keyboard warrior" class :P
In all fairness, you guys let a ton of extreme negativity and insulting commentary slide all the time.
If you're going to punish one, you need to punish all. I think a little more due dilligence on the part of your staff would accomplish that goal.
Just a suggestion.
No one posts more than me. I doubt I've been moderated more than 10 times in total, and I've managed to appeal over half of them successfully.
That doesn't mean I'm never critical of games, I certainly am, and on occasion even take an occasional jab at a particular group or sub set of the genre.
Sometimes I get pretty snarky, but most times a quick re-read before pressing submit reveals that I'm likely to offend and I make changes to tone it down a bit.
Seriously, it really is quite simple, "Don't be rude". Too much of that in the world today anyways.

I have explained this many times before. Our mods don't have the Eye of Sauron at their disposal - they don't see everything. Just like police don't magically appear out of nowhere when you are speeding every time (although, in my case they seem to have this ability).
Use our report tool - this is how our moderators discover 90% of the posts they take action on.
If you have used our report tool without results then email our Community Manager (community [at] mmorpg.com) and he should be able to explain to you why a certain post did or did not violate our rules.
Our site gets some 10,000+ posts per day - and we only have a couple full time moderators - so it is not feasible to expect them to just catch all the bad posts out there - we rely heavily on users reporting this when they see it. Also, the report tool acts as a way for a user to say if they were actually offended. Many times someone will insult another user and if the user being insulted does not report it - perhaps they were not offended - in which case, we are not as concerned. Much like in the real world I can punch someone in the stomach, if they feel they deserved it they can elect to not press charges and we can go have a beer and a cuban together ;-) All cases are different.

That's funny that I clicked on this because I was just thinkg about the Admin. I watch your panel and I have to say I was surprised.. I kinda thought this was just some site that was more of an after thought to the people running it but you guys seemed to have some class. So I'm surprised but the amount of trollish threads and posts that are free to run wild.
I think you guys actually should be more strict. This is the by far the worst site I go to when it comes to hostility and uneducated trollish nonsense. I'm all for freedom of speech ect.. but.. *shrug*
every few months i have to stop coming here for awhile because I just get too jaded by all the nasty people who just soley want to bring a game and it's fans down.
It's just sad because we are (or should be) a community and a family. Not everyone understands the passion a lot of us have for a certain MMO or MMOs in general... but the people here get it.
Sorry, kinda ranty and not well thought out, but hopefully there is something to be said in there.
Of course it does!

I think Kyleron is probably thus an expert in how not to get in trouble. Follow his/her advice and you'll do fine.

It took me too long to realize that I just need to stop and look at the impact that my comment might have before I hit Post Message. I am doing so much better now, but I still catch myself wanting to rant and rave about something that doesn't matter in the big scheme of things.
The mods here know that I am telling the truth

blah blah blah,
Look you are obviously taming people down with the hostility, yes my words weren't that of a gentleman but again I said in the past, I've brought legit reasons behind my dislike of the game guildwars2 and so haven't others , Even found at Pax east atleast 20 people I ran into commented the same thing, MMORPG.com is now an AD base for games and doesn't allow its members to be critical of any game that which suports their bankroll.
/end rant.
just ignore the fanboys as best you can. some of the people who are interested in gw2 are civil and polite.
I've got the straight edge.
You have obviously already made up your mind so I won't bother trying to convince you otherwise. There is nothing a person can do to prove a non-existant thing...so when someone accuses us of being bribed or whatever - there is no evidence of an event that did not happen. For example, if I said you were paid by GameSpot to come over here and accuse us of these things (they would not do this I know, as they are a good group over there, but for the sake of an example!) - there would be nothing you could do to prove me wrong. It is easy to make accusations of others with zero evidence.

What ever are you talking about. These forums are full of threads criticizing the most popular titles including GW2 and SWTOR as of late. (so much so that many complain about it's "trollish" nature)
Are you sure you are visiting these forums?

A Professional such as yourself shouldn't subject yourself to calling out Gamespot even jokenly for the sake of discrediting me, Obviously I have no proof other then every Guildwars2 critical thread being ripped down while you promote them ceaslessly , I wasn't trying to start a hate thread I was just saying its a sad day for me that the community that I used to love now acts as a Ad base medium to blast us with information pertaining to games that you get money from, You can't support something and not get benefits you said it yourself, Atleast 10,000 people a day, Thats money in ad space right there.
So again, I don't have to show you any kind of proof , its kind of obvious man. Why don't you just lock this thread and just do what you do best, censor.
They are ripped down within an hour or so of being posted yes they have posts up all the time, but are constantly censored.
