These posts right here kill me. Just do some fucking research and get to know the damn game alittle. All you saw was a few vids and some SS and you know what type of game this is. Stupid ass people i tell ya. AA is not for everyone but IF you want to form an opinoin, form an informative opinion. Know the subject mater befor you post.

Nah, I can't form an informed opinion when everything is still in Korean.  Just like the Yogscast guys, I have no idea what's going on either.

I'm enjoying the Yogscast vids.  Their accidental tourist style is great and leads to all sorts of weird little things happening ("It's adorable.  Whoa!  Oh no!  I think I may have butchered it!!"), but all I can comment on right now is the first class graphics.  The third hand description of the classes sounds promising, but I want to see these things in action in when there is some context provided in english.  The quest system was grounding though.  I'd almost forgotten that that was how we always used to do it.  And I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt as to the lean character creator.  I don't actually believe that it will be that sparse when they release.

Should be a while before we see this sucker over here.  I'll look at it in detail once it's been converted.  For now, I'll just laugh along with the Yogscast guys and not take it too seriously.

    Slurm anyone?

The Yogscast idiots have come late to the AA party, their are tons of vids and information about all the working features of AA.

Looks pretty sweet except for the animations of characters and some mobs, they're awful.

Well, in my opinion, animations in AA are among the best in the business. Unlike some other in-development games (Secret World for example).

But I bet they will get even better, when the new lead animation director perfects them. He arrived at XL games sometime last year.

He is Sang Soon Park, and he has worked for 11 years in Rockstar San-Diego, as an animation director since 1999. One of his masterpieces is "Red Dead Redemption", where he handled the development of most of the animations in the game (incidentally, RDR is right there at the top of my list of the best games I've ever played).

EDIT: Interesting interview with Mr. Park here:

Are you kidding?? I mean this isn't a fanboi response right? They aren't horrible, but best in the business???? not even close... and I know this is a pretty subjective subject but damn...

Anyways the more info I see from this game the better it looks and I just love all the small details they have in the game that innovate in small steps.

Never been a "fanboy" of any game, I can distance myself from anything I really like and give a honest opinion. You may be surprised that I seriously think that World of Warcraft character and NPC animations are probably the best in current MMORPG games.

I think that fluid, realistic animations are one of the main reasons people do LIKE some games and don't like others (even if they "cant put their finger on" why they don't like them).

Check out animations in LOTRO or some other free-to-play game. They can't even compare to ArcheAge animations.

Maybe to make YOUR point valid, you should specify what exact animations you saw and didn't like? Personally, I think that lion mount animation could be better (it's much better in WoW I think), but even as it is now, it's pretty solid.

Did you see him kill the "goat" or whatever that was? did you see him shooting arrows?? The transition from walking in two legs to four is pretty bad too...not to mention te lion mount animations and the enemy npc's are blah animation wise...

I did love the animations for dancing and moving and the gliding looked pretty smooth. But I DEFINATELY wont be playing this game for its animations nor do I believe they are close to top notch....

Not for nothing but i love the Brits outlook on things. The BBC is on my tele all the time so these guys get a pass in my book. The prespective of some guys playing an new game they cant read or understand and there Brits? Sounds good to me.

from a player who actually plays the game semi well and a load of info just by watching his gameplay?

Meh to each his own. i like watching my 8 year old run around with a football. Not near as much as i like watching a pro football game tho.

Wow, you're fucked up. I think I'd enjoy spending time with my kids more than anything else.

Well the reason I said that is because I give them the benefit of the doubt that they're not finished with the animations quite yet, but as they stand, I really didn't see any animations that stood out.  The cat-people who looked like they were doing a full sprint but going almost walk speed, and leaning down to "all fours" periodically looks much less thought out than say, the Charr run animation from GW2.  I actually thought it looked clumsy.

We'll see how things go, but I agree about TSW's animations.

I hope that the yogscast AA vids get a lot of viewers. This could speed up a release in EU/US if the devs will notice the positive reactions.

While the animations aren't a dealbreaker to me I do agree that some of them look quite terrible currently... if they could just fix that it would be awesome imo. : P

Personally I prefer the Charr animations of GW2, compared to the current iteration of those cat people in AA (keep forgetting what they are called). Mainly because those cat-people seem too human with their normal movements, combat animation (except when wielding a bow) and even posture; so it seems rather jarring when all of the sudden they go on all fours and start sprinting. Whereas the Charr, everything about them seems in-human, yet natural for that race. It's like ArenaNet took to to think about their anatomy and the inner-workings of the Charr. Well at least this news about XL Games getting a new animation lead, is promising.

Yet one thing we all agree on is how mediocre TSW's animations are.

Ive been a fan of ArcheAge since before there were even fansites and everything was still gleaned from korean articles.  And over the years I'd kind of got bored with the idea of ArcheAge, but these videos reinvigorated it for me.

Those videos are just the tip of the iceberg. Can't wait to see more.

Current developers take note, these are features that should be in your  *cough* so-called MMOs.

This game absolutely puts to shame any other MMO on the market with its feature list.

There looks to be a huge difference in quality between sandbox-friendly areas and developer-generated areas.

This year has been so hectic for me, every day I log into my computer and have to check 10 different youtube channels to see if the newest BETA footage from one of the many great games coming out this year are available, this year for us is quite spectacular, I don't think it is possible for someone to be dissapointed in everything that is potentially coming to the market this year.
