Elin changes. ....but did you know you could change them back?
So i've heard quite a bit of hub-bub and rabble-rousing over a certain change of attire.
You love it, or you hate it.
No matter how you adress it, every. single. time. on every forum i've visited, it decends into a swirling shitstorm of name calling and counter-accusations and witchhunting that just looks silly.
We can all get along here! I promise!

According to the game publishers (.. and many, many other statements from moderators and in-game players.) the .DAT file, (character and costume file, client side) may be modded for 'cosmetic' changes.
They simply do not care. As long as you're not 'hacking' or trying to gain an unfair advantage gameplay-wise... you can make your character look however you wish for yourself.
This implies that if you want.. in the privacy of your own home and for your own personal game.. you can change the way 'certain characters' look, even 'modding' them back to thier original standards.
So please.. calm down.
Parents and others who may be concerned - You'll never have to see a single scantily-clad fox girl for your entire game. You can even cover her up more if you wish. Noone will bother you. You don't have to even know they exist.
People who wish to play the game as it was 'originally' developed - You may mod those little fox-lolis to your hearts' content, and noone will be the wiser.

If client side modding is allowed in terms of just looks, there might even be a community for it eventually. Hell the demon girls (Castanics i think?) are bascally naked anyway, I can so see someone making a dat mod to just remove the clothes entirely. FF11 used to have a dat mod community even though it was not allowed according to the tos, but since its all client side they kinda turned a blind eye since it causes no harm.
All I know is I wonder how long before someone makes a zip file with the korean version of the dat files for the player models. Namely the races.
Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:
A. Proven right (if something bad happens)
or
B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)
Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime!

Being allowed to screw around with game files is kind of a can of worms if you want to keep out exploiters/ hackers.

So OP are you saying that you could edit ALL of the races physical qualities? A total change in their apperance? At least as far as the clothing? And also add things to them?
That actually sounds really awesome if true. The possibilites are endless! You could mod all the silly Eastern Loli/Manga crap out of the game and make it look less...whatever the fuck is is right now.
EDIt: Or to be fair you could make it even more Loli/Manga-esqe if you do DESIRE! I honestly think it is really cool that the Devs would allow this, if true.
As above poster pointed out this could be abused though. I would err on the side of caution and only allow Dev-allowed changes.

Seeing how this is still a bit of a 'grey' issue, I'm not sure what the exact rules are for linking outside the forum here.. especially when it comes to 'modding' types of things. (...even more so if it can even slightly be implied that there is 'hacking' involved. I'd like to keep a clean slate in this community, if at all possible.)
Its a simple google search away until you find the conversations i'm talking about.
I assure you this is a real thing, ...it just keeps being ignored every time someone brings it up.

I agree that the Elin are a little creepy to me but I have zero problem with people that are turned on by that. After all that is why they are there in the first place. Their is a clear market for that "look". Hell they can market MLP to teen boys and immature men and sell millions!

Grab your file here, then copy. You can even try a file repair, and notice its not 'repaired' ,start up have original elin. Done.

I just alters YOUR clients version ofc. Besides while i was fiddling around there any other touching game files will result in your client telling you that it needs repairs. So any substantial changes other than 'pretty outifts' are not allowed.
Ok, that's cool, to be honest I hope they'll keep up this policy, really. Might even tempt people to mod some actual solid plate armor on them poor, exposed castanics V_V
