Horrible idea... Why?  Because they'll be forced to police this.  You think ticket responses are slow in games now?  Imagine if GM's have to spend all day every day researching what people put on their capes and sails...

While it's cool and all to have the ability to customize using your own images, such options will always be a double-edged sword. This has the potential to be extremely immersion breaking, not to mention the potential of having "problematic" images.

while this is a wicked as #$@#$ idea.. im kinda worried about how this will be monitored.. as we know the typical gamer "ass-hat" will always ALWAYS strive to one up them selves in the ranking of asshatery soo unless this option is monitored to some extent... we will see swasticas and other hatemongering signs used? as other games that allowed such options had similar stuff used by the community's troll players.. 

also how will they handle copy right content?? if i put up a coke or pepsi sign on my ship can called it HMS pepsi-cola couldnt that land the game in hot water under copy rights??? as im not affiliated with pepsi or coke...

I agree, the only way they would be able to properly control the content of the images is by having an approval system in place before an image can be used. If they don't do something like that it could be a major pain for them to censor.

Very cool! ship sails will be even better.  Also will make it easy to point out who not to group with, don't think ill be joining anyone running around waving "their flag".
