rating of GW2 after release

VaultarVaultar Member Posts: 339

What do you think the rating of GW2 be a month after it is released?

I personally think it is gonna stay at a solid 9 at least.

Looking forward to EQL and EQN.

Besides the usual trolls that will continously bash this game no matter how well or poor it does, I think the ratings will be pretty fair..I can see them dropping but not too far.

Lower than publicly perceived. Because, it never sizes up to peoples insane hype.

well at least people wont be inclined to unsubscribe eh? so they have their player retention there :P

people say x game is not worth 15$/month so they unsub after the free month...

with GW2, if they think its not worth the 15$/month well they wont have to and still keep playing,

(looks left and right, with a secret voice as if trying to hide something, in a sarcastic voice...) i think they are on to something

I understand there is no way to know. This thread was made for prediction and fun :p.

We already know pretty much everything what guild wars 2 will have and we have tons of previews and interviews to act as guide as to what the players think the rating will end up being under the "released games" section of this site.

However, Strider has good point ...:(

Looking forward to EQL and EQN.

I'm sure it will have a lower rating than it has now. If it turns out to be bad, people will trash it. If it's good, it will be voted bad out of spite and fandom rivalry.

It's going to be high - the most recent release once GW2 drops will have been SWTOR - and with the non stop talk of it being the same ole same ole - just having a bunch of new / different things is going to be enough for many people to praise GW2 to the moon.  Looks like everything is really high quality - I will be surprised if it isn't consistently in the 90's.

I can easily see reviewers giving it 5/5 and 9-10/10.

Player reviews will probably be somewhat lower (you can´t please everyone and I fear some people are expecting stuff that just ain´t there), 8.5/10 maybe.

Still, I think it will be pretty high, ANET have some really good devs and for once we will get a MMO made by competent programmers, that is not a everyday thing. :)

Yeah... we'll definitely see a lot of people racing to endgame and wondering "WHERE'S THE RAIDZ!?", insighting rage on the forums, scoring it a 0/10 on Metacritic, followed by rage quiting the game and then coming back to repeat the process in the next expansion.

It will drop. Maybe not much, maybe alot. But it will drop. They always do. Also dont forget you still have thoes people that think GW2 will be like nothing we have seen before. They think there will be NO themepark mechanics in the game and everything is the greatest innovation in MMO history. These people are going to be severly disapointed and will drop the rating. The bigger question to me is, how many of these delusional people are there?

It really depends on the magazine or webpage. My favourite print magazine will probably rate it like GW:EN, which was given a 9.3. PCGamer will probably give it a 9 or 9.8. Sometimes they are just hilarious.

On my personal record and based on what I've experienced myself, seen or read, I'll give it a 9.3 either. The major downsides would be no seamless world, which is not that important but relevant, and flaws in cutscenes. The biggest flaw there would be the fixed camera. I prefer close-ups and swapping cameras in dialogues. They add so much to them.

Hmm fair points guys :). But in terms of average user rating right here in this site, what would u predict the score to be for gw2 a month after its release ?

Looking forward to EQL and EQN.

no matter how low it falls on this website, i think it could easily be higher than every game released and ranked on this website. Thats just my thought.

Will fall down as every game there will be % of people that will not like this game for certain reasons.

Some will not like that there are no macros / add-ons, some will not like lack of raids, some will not like lack of big gear progress.

Some will not like not-so-important crafting or lack of real player-made economy, etc

So rating will fall down, it still will be over 8.00 though.

It depends on if the game is good or not. Honestly, you can't prepredict this...

Depends on what people count as important. I'll probably give it a 9.5 or above considering everything I find important is in there.

Any site that doesn't rate this game 11/10 is paid off by EA or Activision.

I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil

You know nothing about the game, till after the beta or open beta, we dont know whats gonna happen with the game, after all is an esport game, not a full MMO.

What's an esport game? GW2 looks to be more of an mmo than any others I've seen..

A game is considered an e-sport, when it can be played in some way, at a competitive level. That is what Guild Wars 2's Structured PvP is likely to be and it is clearly evident that ArenaNet wants it to be as such.
