I just started a 14 day trial and I'm looking for some info on what to do and not do? What to buy/upgrade and what to learn.

Are there any good fan sites that have info resources?

a) your not alone

c) look through this forum - some posts a while back had great ideas for new players

d) eve-online forums are a great source of info

e) in game HELP channel is a great place even for veterans to get info

f) join eve-university corp - they are structured to helping new players

g) if all that fails and you still need help i can ramble about stuff till your brain shuts off, but im not sure if you want that.

btw whats your in game name .. i could see if can get some time to give you a hand
