Pull IGE advertisements from website

Please don't associate your fine website with such a poor company in the MMO world. They are constantly associated with scams such as the recent one in Dark Age of Camelot where they e-mail accounts were traced back to them trying to obtain people's CD keys.

Not only is IGE involved in scams (rumour or not) they are constantly ruining games with campers and other such people who are paid to make cash to sell. They almost ruined Lineage 2 with camping and could also do the same thing in Dark Age of Camelot and WoW by destroying the economy. So I beg of you please do not associate yourselves, a great website for the MMO community, with the bottom feeding filt.

First of all, haven't noticed any IGE ads, actually I have never heard of them. When I went to goole and typed in IGE, lol the hompage of the main site said "Buy game currency, items, acounts and more... Choose your game" and they had 15 games to choose from. Lol.

That is exactly what they do.

The camp and farm a majority of the rare drop items in many many games, and then turn around and have an almost sole monopoly on the flow of those items. But most of the time they turn around and seel the items for real money (in violation of almost every ToS or CoC on the market today), or for so much in game currency you have to buy more money (typically from them) then buy their item they are selling. If this was in real life it would almost be like organized crimeextortion... You have to pay them to get the money you need to buy an item you need from them. They make money off you twice.

If you have a stranglehold on the all the rare drop items, you can charge whatever you want, and control the flow of it to push prices higher. It would put a major hurt on the in-game inflation system.

i completely agree i hate em and it should be EMBARRASING to mmorpg.com

It's not merely an embarrasment. Once mmorpg.com starts partnering with cheat companies like IGE and benefiting financially from thier success, their motives will change. You'll have to start filtering the information provided here wondering how much of it stems from IGE calling the shots.

Break the relationship with IGE now. Don't throw mmorpg.com away on a sellout.

Hey, I am telling you. If you have a problem, PM the admin and he might take the time to tell you why he needs sponserships.

I fully agree that the site needs sponsorships. And heck, I will actively work to help GET new sponsors for the site, if that'll help.

I think a lot of people here would help out in some way, if it's needed.

But lets get real here. IGE is a cheater's tool, every bit as much as a site which let players download client hacks would be. For most of the games IGE attacks, reselling ingame goods out of the game is forbidden. That means that honest players, who don't use IGE and their ilk, are left at a serious disadvantage compared to the cheaters who do.

Showing ads is showing support. MMORPG.com supporting IGE is showing support for a company which profits by encouraging cheating in MMOs, and through its dealing actively contributes to numerous ingame problems in every game it attacks.

I just want to back up the notion that ige is evil. If you allow their advertisements, you will lose a lot of visiotors (including me, who visits this site everyday).

If sponsorship means sacfricing your morality, just get some porn ads going.

I agree with the creater. IGE and companys like them ruin it for the people who still enjoying playing the game FOR THE GAME. Not this macho 12 year old "My sword is bigger than your Sword."

Everyone reading this should tell the people at IGE to get a real job.image

Wow, I am shocked I found this thread and it is as old as it is. I just saw the IGE ad today and it has damned near killed my opinion of this site. I used to hold MMORPG.com in the highest regard and now I can't imagine a site that I have a lower opinion of.

I would love to recommend pulling the ad but I understand how business works and if the vendor paid money to advertise and the company accepted it they have a contractual obligation to hold up their end. So I can understand why at this point even if they wanted to take it down they couldn't until the contract is up.

I will say though that it says something about the MMORPG.com group though. The fact that the ad is on the site at all means one of 4 things:

-MMORPG.com thinks that the buying and selling of in-game resources through out-game methods is ok and a valid business worthy of advertising, even when developers ban people they find doing.

-The proprietors of MMORPG.com don't communicate very well with the people who procure the advertising that goes on their site (and those people are clueless.)

-MMORPG.com doesn't care who advertises on their site, as long as they get paid (like letting Smirnoff or Absolut advertise on a site for recovering alcoholics.)

-MMORPG.com is in such dire straits that it had to accept the advertising with IGE to stay afloat.

Sadly, while the fourth is the most digestable it is also the most unlikely as I see it. I have no idea what the real story is but no matter what it is, it makes me sad and upset. No matter people's intentions or opinions, having THAT AD on THIS SITE only reinforces the idea to anyone who does the buying, the selling, or even just the playing that that behavior is somehow valid.

I can't believe there hasn't been more people upset about this but I'm assuming that is because of the section of the forum it is in and there is probably one in the other forums (I haven't looked yet, this seemed like the best place.)

Unless MMORPG.com has some sort of explanation (I really can't even imagine a good one) they have lost my respect forever.
