    Why so serious?

Sorry! Just had to say it! Moving onto topic.. I have played bigger file size games, are you downloading the game instead of buying it from the highstreet shops? Then that would be a wait... image or is it more to do with not enough space on your computer?

While the "15-20GB standard" is pure bull****, 14GB was unexpected for me.

On the other hand, my first computer was an absolute beast with 32MB of ram. Do you get where I'm getting at?

I will assume you're not, hence the thread. Tech changes, software takes advantage of the tech.

    My WoW folder is 26GB

    LOTRO folder is 13.6GB

    DDO 6GB

    Champions Online 4GB

While 14GB isn't in the average range for MMO client size, it's certainly not out of the ordinary...

Guess the OP won't be playing SWTOR, GW2 or anything else coming out next year either :)

    They'll all be 20+ gb.

Just put it on download and go grab a pizza and a cold beer or something, by the time you are done with those and watched a movie it will be done... If not... It is not the file size that is the problem but your ISP offering crap service =P

This have been a good conversation

I have a small suggestion :) Go download age of conan then you will know what big is. 14gig to me is reasonable

another option is to borrow dvds from someone then just update it

The download works really well, it took only 30 minutes for me.

Put you computer to download during night/when you go off to work/when you go somewhere for a day. If even that won't work, upgrade your internet. 14gb is normal size for a game nowadays.

I usually download stuff during my sleeptime.

It's like time travel... you start your downloads and go to sleep... sleep feels like a hour or so

and when you wake up at the morning, all done. :]

its not about the disk space, nor the time it takes to download

its about the download size, where i live bandwith costs a fortune, (just to give you an idea, in my area the ISPs available would cost me 60$ + tx for a 2MB speed and 30GB/month. so a 14GB one shot download kind of hits you in the face!

yes MMORPGs are in the range of 10-20GB  but most of it is installed from the CD/DVD, and the rest is downloaded (OVER MONTHS YEARS) as patches. so you dont really see the file size until you check it 3-6 months down the line.

im going to go to my local game show see if i can find the DC universe box at a decent price (20$ or less) because i cant simply put a 14GB chunk on my bandwith on the 2nd of the month

On my PC?  No.  On my PS3?  YES.  Already had to delete a few games off my HDD just to make room for it, last night.

That being said, wait till you download/install SWTOR.  ROFLMAO.

AoC is around 27GB, or at least it was just a few months ago.

These days i'd have thought everyone would have known MMO's can be anywhere up to 30GB ish.

So it's the price of your bandwidth that is an issue not the size of the game - I would post your complaint on your ISP's forum instead of here. I can understand your concern but that's the core of the issue - not the 14GB.

Like others have said 14GB is right in the range of many MMOs - while you can get alot of it off of the disc, there are still 5 updates to download so you'll end up spending $20-$30 and still have to download at least 8GB (I turned mine on for the first time in a couple of months and still had a 3GB download for update 5) if not more

What the hell...? Where I live you can get 100mbit for $25 a month without any caps. Is it really that bad in Canada nowadays? I mean I heard about ISPs putting out caps but that is just fucking ridiculous!

they will come in a CD/DVD thus i would say 80-90% would be installed from disk,

the rest are smaller patches over time.

so yeah ill be playing GW2 and anything that comes out with a box (worthwile of course)

and what exactly was your thread now for? what do you want changed, what is your complaint?

you got a 3rd world internet connection is all i can read out of this. very interesting :D

I live in a piss-poor country in Eastern Europe. My internet costs $15. It took me 4 hours to download DCUO. No traffic cap, of course.

Srsly, you should look for another ISP. Or start the revolution, if no sane isps available. Those are your only options.
