Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

Not your run-of-the-mill "kill x rats" quests...(Alliance side SPOILER?)

...the one where you attack the guys after spying on them. I believe the name of the quest is Spybot.

...any of the ones where you escort a npc somewhere.

...the Stalvan Curse one.

My dream MMORPG would have more of these.

I haven't even gotten to the ones you mentioned here, but just about every mission I come across is something new and either hysterically funny (like the Horde one where you have to go around and bonk the sleeping peons on the head with a blunt stick to get them back to work) or just a lot more involved and interesting then you would expect (like the Alliance one where you have to sabotage a famous tavern's ale, but you get there to find it's guarded by a determined dwarf, so you have to go find something to get him insanely drunk in order to make him walk off dazed so you can get to the ale kegs.)

Blizzard really got the quests right for the first time I've seen in any MMORPG. I've played em all, and although several MMORPGS have the varied back story, like protect this, rescue this person, obtain that, etc. it still comes down to the same repetitive 'go here, kill this' feel. WoW quests just don't give me that feeling at all due to significantly better AI, conversation, story, and interactive elements.

Yes, I remember those two! These types of quests are the ones I wish there were more of.

You haven't been playing for a long time, haven't you?  There's still lots of quests like this as you progress in the game. Keep playing.

The fun in WoW doesn't start until Level 30+.  And the fun gets even better after Level 40+.  I'm still a Level 42 Hunter, so I still have 50+ and Level 60 to discover.  And according to everyone, there's still lots to do in those levels.

Yep was pleased to see escort quest make a comeback.

UO only real intresting quest in 1998 was escort quest which were also downright buggy.

So hapy they made a comeback and actually work!

I'm not complaining or saying there is not a lot to do. I have a mid 40 character and I just happened to do the spybot quest with a lower level guildie for the first time yesterday. I thought it was so neat that it was worth mentioning. I think quests like these are what's missing in MMORPGs.

Bonking the peons, what a beautiful thing... I tell ya, the blizzard team really knows how to put it together.. I mentioned in another post (while I was trolling - I think that's the term where I look at other forums and turn my reply into a slight shameless WoW plug - I just really think people are missin' out) the gnomish/goblin inventions (engineering profession) - some of the descriptions are hilarious - some things actually backfire and have wacky results if they fail to function properly, it's great! Right now the only downside is the raid lag... Everytime the Xroads gets raided the lag is ridiculous, Blizzard needs to address this and I'm sure they will soon enough.

Funny quest ive seen is to get radiation thingie for a gnome in steel... depo.. there are two gnomes thre and one of them is quest giver. That quest is 2 parts, take radiation samples from some troggs in Gnomeregan. Was funny to do that as a rogue since if u get close your stealth fades cuase u get radiation burns on ya. Anyway, when i brought back that sample (that gnome says he needs it to find the cure for gnomes that have radiation aka Leaper gnomes, and there is one leaper gnome in the cage near that gnome) that guy goes to a big machine of sort, does some tricks then BOOM... that leaper turns into chicken and runs away...
All this time his gnome partner laughs his ass off.

HAHA that was funny.. the first time i saw it i was outside his hut and i was like.. WTF, chicken attacking me?? but it just ran by me.. was very funny :)

2nd part involves getting radiation part from slimes, a harder enemy from gnomeregan. The gnome now says that he is gonna get the cure "for sure" and how great he is blah blah... so what happens when he does his trick with this radiation sample? nothing good for him hehe, he turns into an ape! ROFL that was hilarious!!!

And the other funny quest was involving dwarfs (Ive even recorded this on video) in the same zone, they are ot far from coldridge valley. Those dwarfs basicaly teach some other dorfs how to shoot...It was funny watching one guy shoot a target dummy and the other missing it all the time (u can actually see where bullet hits). That poor chap was so desperate to show his leet skillz to his pals, but alas, he was bad.. and i mean BAAD. So, next his buddies ask him to put a target dummy to practice with their cannon skills. everything goes well untill that dorf who sets up target dummy doesnt go away in time and BOOM, he goes hit with friendly fire... needless to say hes angry while all this time his buddies rolling on floor laughing at him, so he runs close to them , turns and starts mooning them "kiss my hairy dwarven arse"... ROFL THAT WAS THE BEST!!! And i have it on video... if any1 interested to watch that tell me where I can host it, its a few megabytes, maybe 50. Ive got a lot of movies, duels, scenery, funny stuff, etc.

My rocket boots failed me once so instead of running away from the mob i was zig-zagin my way around the mob... needless to say mob did not stop and cheer at my obvious shoe-malfunction but slamed its teeth into my butt :(

oh and my harm prevention (sp) belt that gives me 500 dmg shield fails often.. putting me into some sort of statis, unable to move, un able to hide or run, unable to die either though, so at least htat is good :)

Oh and my shrink machine is hilarious.. when it backfires, it shrinks everyone in my group HAHA.. has any1 seen shrunken drunken gnome? haha

i disagree. i am level 19th and i am having a lot of fun! imageimageimageimageimage

But yeah, WoW quests, even now seems to.... i do not know, one notch over anything else i saw before? Not to speak of the fact there are quest available trough exploration (like the beached critters in Darkshore or the magic fruit tree in Theldrassil) or trough item acquisition.

infact, it is almost never if not at low levels "kill this and that" and that is. I had to kill various forest critters only to know it was wrong and then start gahering acorns to make the damn satyr pay, or having to steal fruit, grain and something else from the furbolgs to see who was their corruptor and then slay him..... and countless more, really nice.

On a second note, are all escort NPCs completely retarded? or it was just this one that after telling me "when you are prepared we can go", he simply walked out of the damn cave in the middle of 2 dozens furbolgs! I was honestly expecting him to follow me ;)

LOL image Those escort NPCs don't know how to stay out of aggro range do they? Also they insist on attacking  everything in sight! image I love the time I got killed but the escort lived! Maybe I need the escort not the other way around!!!

I haven't played my female Orc in a while, but I remember when I did this quest they would say "Me not that type of Orc!" I can't remember exactly what I was doing to those lazy peons to prompt that type of response! Horde sexual harassment? LOLimage

Was playing my mage the other day... ran into Stormwind, went to the mages quarter, up the mage tower, through the partal .. and saw there was a quest waiting for me. When I started reading the quest I was already smiling..

There was a disturbance in a pub in town.. so I had to go to the pub and capture the magical creatures causing the disturbance. Brilliant.. a creature quest, in town! I enjoyed the quest a lot! There should be more of these kind of quests.. although, the more there are, the less exclusive and the less fun they become...

    Cheers,
    Nash

I played as a dwarf for the first time and the quests really seemed to be "kill x rats" and just to make it clear, "collect x rat ears" counts too.
I got to lv13 on my dwarf hunter and after I got bored I made an Orc Shaman(different realm), I still think WoW has too many kill this and kill that quests, but I still prefer them over the "run around the world in 1 hour and receive a reward so bad that it makes you cry"-quests.
I'm still considering if I should buy WoW, all the other games I have are boring and it won't be long before I finish the newest console game I have ;/
Maybe it's a lot more fun with a group of friends, dunno. I played solo on the US Beta so that's probably why grinding wasn't that fun :S
