Crowd controll builds...

Lord.BachusLord.Bachus Member RarePosts: 9,686

I dare you all to build a crowd controll class using all the info we have so far.

by using this tool : http://gw2.luna-atra.fr/skills_tool/?lang=en

Keep in mind that a build contains out of 2 weapon combos (except elementalist and engineer)  and 5 choosable skills (1 healing / 3 general / 1 elite)

Who can come up with the most viable, most surprising and most fun Crowd controll builds...

((( Please no comments about the lack of information, because you will be surprised about how much information there is allready availble in the tooling)))

Now let the theorycrafting start......

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

The best i could get is This

    Warrior Hammer,Mace and Shield.

If we count Knock Back as a (CC which it it is) you get about 10 CC skills! all your utilities are CC u got Mending which heal and removes condition.

Instead of "Fear Me'' you can get "Frenzy" its a great skill for double (even tripple) usage,it gives you a stun breaking (1 usage), a speed boon, and a higher crit chance!

Engineers are great at CC as well. Here is my build.

I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.

    ^ Tell me where I can get that pistol/rifle hybrid :p ^

Did you fuse them together or something?

Awesome warrior build mate, many will love to play that ....  It shows espescially how veratile classes can be...

Now i am wondering if anyone can make an equally good CC build based on the Guardian....

Elementalists are good at Crowd Control as well:

    http://gw2.luna-atra.fr/skills_tool/?lang=en&code=2f278b432f827c33;3125a7635d49402a765f41485&switch=7d994

Nine CC skills, some debuffs and Area of Effect skills that compliment CC and some walls and barriers as well, to further control the battle field. You'd need to be good at knowing which skills are in which attunements for which weapon set, but Elementalist is a more advanced class in any event, due to the attunement system.

This works as a Guardian with some Crowd Control:

    http://gw2.luna-atra.fr/skills_tool/?lang=en&code=32f83442b630ad78b73;3212785310fe052a802fc14e9&switch=301ba97

Crowd Controlo is vis knock downs, knock backs, an immobilize and area denial via rings/walls of protection. Also some additional support abilities in the build.

Ranger is an obvious one, with traps and muddy terrain, along with attacks for knock back, cripples and freezing foes.

    http://gw2.luna-atra.fr/skills_tool/?lang=en&code=310ff8c2b630ad78b73;3214e922e337442a78e9413bb&switch=2f312a5

Some of these builds wouldn't be my primary builds for those characters, but it's nice to be able to switch builds between battles, so if you need some CC, you can have it.

Only Necro is lacking a bit. No stuns, knock backs or kds, just a few skills that cripple, freez or immobilize. :(

Only hope, condition transfer will balance it.

This necro build may not have as much Crowd Control as other professions, but the combination of cripple, freeze or immobilize with Area of Effect Damage and Damage over Time skills really leverage what crowd control you do have pretty wickedly. :)

Edit: Oh, and don't forget Doom, the Fear Skill, you have in Death Shroud form!

For completeness, a nice Thief build with CC, mobility and stealth for a deadly combination.

I personally thing the stun from sword/pistol is better than the sword/dagger's multi-cripple, but that is only because sword skill one also does cripple (but for free).

Recently I REALLY started liking thieves.  image

Wow Fiontar, you really outdid yourself on all those builds, proving that allmost every class can play a crowd controll role...

One thing about this build tough, in my vision Elementalist (and engineers) cant swap weapons in combat... (unless they swap them manually from their bags...(which we're still not sure if that will work when flagged for combat)

    Forgot about that!

    Elementalist Dagger/Dagger:

    http://gw2.luna-atra.fr/skills_tool/?lang=en&code=2f2791832f815033;3125a7635d49402a765f41485&switch=7b284

    Engineer:

    Rifle, Bomb Satchel (Selectable Skill).

It seems that all classes can contribute crowd control in some form. They are viable builds for the professions and are fitting for people who prefer that playstyle. I'm sure there are many builds that benefit from even one or two CC skills, so even though those builds may not be pure CC, the utility of CC is useful and can be integrated into builds with out watering them down.

A regular group of players who are good at working together and adapting quickly to changing tactical situations might want to have most or all characters equip at lest some crowd control, in order to give them broader options in controlling the battlefield to their benefit.

Even a solo player might want one or two CC skills for those "Oh S&^#" moments and to add their utility when helping others in game via soft grouping or PUGs. The fact that all professions have those options is great.

For PVP players, even a little CC can go a long way, so I think many will look to include at least one CC skill in most builds, unless they have an over-riding reason otherwise.
