Want me to come back and play eve?

Give me a PvP flag that I can turn on and off and only be attackable (including Ganking in high sec) when I turn it on.

Hell I would re-sub without a second thought.

Or you could play a more mainstream game that already caters to you rather than ask a niche game to change itself.

Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.

You allready have that flag available through the way you play and act in the game.

Go mine ICE and let me know how that goes. Maybe you can sweet talk them into letting you get some.

Don't play a game that you have no interest in.    Eve is 100% pvp, right down to the nitty gritty.   Sure there is a few pve elements but overall the game operates on the player base, be it the market, roid belts, ice trades, manufacturing, you name it.

To turn a pvp flag off in eve, would be like turning a pve flag off while raiding in wow...  It makes no freakin sense at all.

That's ridiculous.  That is not Eve.  Like it's been said, go play one of the countless other games that cater to you "no-risk" gameplay.  Eve doesn't want you, no one cares :D

The OP may be referring to suicide ganking in High Sec; you know, where your supposed to be safe? Yeah, i've had a friend lose 2-3 hulks to constant suicide ganks in High Sec and took a temporary leave because he didnt have the Isk to fund the ships that were getting ganked by wannabe pirates. I was told theres a corp that gives about a 25M payout to every Hulk popped in hi-sec. Now thats hardcore (and manages to make no sense for me despite the fact I dont mind PvP in places where its supposed to be carried out; you know, not hi-sec?).

Wait, we can't pvp in hi-sec?  Damn, I was not aware of that!  (Actually you can pvp anywhere, security status of systems only pertains to Concord etc, not whether you can pvp or not).

Hey, maybe if you think about it for longer than five seconds it will make sense to you.  People like seeing explosions, I personally do.  People also like to grief and try to ruin someone else's game.  It seems to me that those "wannabe" pirates have accomplished exactly that.  Makes sense to me.

CCP and players in game have stated many times.   There is no "safe" place in eve, the only "safe" place is being docked and even then it's not 100% safe.

these posts are hiliarious. Please accept any TS/Vent requests when I or my corpmates pop you. If you explain it on voicecomms, I might refund your ship. You might have to sing an Amarr hymn or a Gallente ballad of my choosing though....

in fairness to your point, PoTBS did this..and it was good in the sense you could get off shore a bit w/o getting ganked...but...BUT that game wasn't very good. You are getting killed mining ice? Could you pick a worse profession to spend your time doing than that? If I have to mine, I at least fit a rock scanner to maximize my time on each rock and get the highest yield/ore.

Mining Ice literally is the absolute worst thing you could be wasting your time doing. Oh wait, you were doing it alone or with a single alt? Where was your backup? Did you hire some local security? Were you aligned while you were mining?

Did you bother to ask the people who killed you what you could have done better? Are you part of a corp that sells ice to a 0.0 alliance and the guy that killed you belonged to a rival alliance? Crying about it doesn't improve it.

Highsec isnt meant to be 100% safe.

    Even CCP says that.

what they did say though is that every offender in highsec gets Concorded.

The moment you undock in Eve is when you are pvp flagged.

High sec / Low sec or Null sec :P

What iritates me the most is that the skill training to fight back on even level is way and way to long.

I play for now till something better pops up.

CCP will get a hard time in 2012 i think.

Already a reorganisation and firing 20% of their staff and the future aint looking to bright for them.

If they want to give Eve a boost they might need to revamp their mmo to be new player friendly or accept a low population and perhaps even less in 2012 when alot of new mmo's hit the market.

I can imagen people who like Eve might try out SWTOR or even Guildwars2 / Diablo III

Anyway i like Eve but time is against me with each day i play, thats how i feel :)

Eve is a hard mmo with the strong ruling the weak and in this case the strong gets stronger and stronger ! ;)

Aahhhh... so that's where you're coming from. You'e not able to run your bots anymore

Seriously. You allready can play EvE 100% safe by running LvL 4 missions 24/7 in high-sec and aslong as you stay in a NPC-corp and don't start to harass others you'll never get targeted by another player.

Mining ice needs an ovehaul for several years allready, and that's why the high-sec ise-miners are getting targeted recently, to pressure CCP to change something. Ice shouldn't be available in high-sec as it makes isotopes too cheap, which leads to massive overuse of POS and capitals.

Hulkageddon is about the same thing. The resaon there is slightly different tho, as it is targeted more at the bots.

And as I said... If you want to play EvE safe, then there's allready options to do so. I didn't say that everything can be done 100% safe tho, did I?

So you want CCP to change the entire culture of Eve so you can be happy?

Maybe I should tell Blizzard that they should make WoW FFA full loot PvP so I'll return.

    ...

    In short, nope.

They don't want you to come back and play EVE because as you clearly pointed out you are "not" the target audience.

It's kind of like a hardcore PvP'er saying to the LoTRO community and developers "Want me to come back, well implement open PvP with full looting and permeant death." Yeah instead you might want to look for a game that actually is trying to target you.

Just want to say that I agree with pretty much every response given to you, OP.

-EVE/CCP does not target you or anyone else that wants consentual pvp  for their potential long term audience

-"Want me to come back?"  ...  why would we care?   Send that kind of message to CCP as at least your monthly subscription is something they might want.  Otherwise, who are you really asking?

    - There are other space games; you don't have to play EVE.

    - WoW changed for the worst because of people like you; complaining that they want the game to change in order to cater to their liking instead of just cancelling and choosing another game that was built with such features/dynamics/player-base in mind.    CCP would rather lose your subscription, and gain 3 curious new accounts in your place instead of changing the CORE of the game that has brought them success for 8 years.

-It is way too easy to avoid PVP in EVE.    In my humble (yeah, not so humble I suppose) opinion, a problem that needs addressing is not "it's hard to avoid getting ganked" nearly as much as "There's not enough pvp outside of megacorp BLOB-fest pvp"  --- THAT is what I personally think needs to be 'fixed', but definitely not at the expense of changing their entire core PVP mechanic of it being loss/gain in nature.

    my 27 cents

Whether or not it intentionally targets non-PvP players, the detailed economy and background drama attracts them anyway.  There are people who would prefer the ability to migrate towards 1.0 space rather than 0.0 space as they get settled.  The question is whether some form "utopian space" analog to wormhole space could be created for these people without comprimising the integrity of the game as a whole.  Alas, this is probably not the best time to be proposing wild ideas.

Not going to happen. ISK buys free game time and all PvE is designed to grind ISK. If the game took a PvE-centric turn, nobody would be paying for EVE.

  • maplestonemaplestone Member UncommonPosts: 3,099

I agree you have to take ISK out of the equation if you expand into 1.0 space.  I believe it could be done, I'm just not sure it could justify the development costs.  Basically, I'd wait and see what lessons DUST holds - if that aurum-based economy succeeds, it opens up the possibility of all sorts of interconnected sub-economies/sub-games.

You aren't the target demographic.  HTFU.

Tell that to the 20% that got laid off. Good to see smug players would rather watch the MMO die then soften up a bit to get a sustainable level of players coming in.

Yep you can HTFU all the way to server shut down...

Heh, amusing, I admit.     But still, having a PVP on/off toggle is rather lame all together.  Especially in EVE.    Maybe there could be a focus on making highsec "more" safe or something like that in terms of softening up to encourage more players to join (which, I'm still not for, but for argument's sake, I'll humor you on this)

We have to remember that most of the long-term and even some of the new EVE playerbase are people who abuse and exploit the game mechanics in any way they can to gain profit.    PVP flags wouldn't do much but add to the list of available scams.

FYI that %20 got laid off because CCP let the FiS portion of the game stagnate while they worked on 3 other projects, not because they didn't turn the game into hello-kitty online.
