Fellow DDOer's, should those neat new Arty's get nerfed?

David_LopanDavid_Lopan Member UncommonPosts: 813

Name says it all.  I really like the new class but I believe they should be toned down a little.  If you think so, why do you think so?  If not, why do you think so?  Having so much missle dps + spells and rogue skills, i dont know, seems pretty uber, not to mention better crafting (which should be a given I guess, they are called Artificers).

You should probably state what level your character is...  because artis are a bit OP up until lvl 12, but after that point, they aren´t anything great...  Their OPness at early lvls revolves around them getting a repeater very early.

As far as traps..  they do NOT get evasion, which means there are a lot of traps in the game that will give them trouble.

No. Because I have changed my main to an Arty. :)!

Jokes aside. I don't feel like the Arty should be nerfed consdering the fact that the Monk is OP. I think the post above me is probably right when they say that the Arty is only OP in the beginning. Repeaters with elemental bonuses do some nice damage but I am sure using a repeating crossbow won't cut it at end game.

In DDO no bow really cuts it at end game. A repeater with certain effects can be very powerful low and mid game but most of those decline in effectiveness past Gianthold really.

Any build can have a repeater early but a character doing traps without evasion will not be OP later in game, just like you said.

I have not played an artificer yet but from what they have as abilities I fail to see them as over powered.

sorcs and wizards can do equal or greater dps at mid levels.  Fireballs and firewalls amongst other spells put them on par if not better at killing that arties.  I don't think srocs or wizards should be nerfed either.

The game is dead not, this game is good we make it and Romania Tv give it 5 goat heads, this is good rating for game.

Of course those classes should out kill an artificer. If they could not out kill the artificer that would be silly.

Aquazen do you realize a popular build is 18wz/2 rogue?

Nerf an arti, becaue they have rogue skills?? You do realize any class can do rogue skills, and barely lose any effectiveness, if any.

Yeah, I know.  Look , Arty has Rune Arm, better crafting, awsome spells (but not a ton of sp), heals and repair (even if it is pots thrown), huge umd, great dps,  some of the best buffs in game, aggro pets with crazy hi stats and good dps, etc.  When i play with arty's they dominate kill count untill level 12 when things even out a bit.  Battle engineeer is pretty nasty too.

I dont care if they get nerfed or not, but playing with arty's at low levels isnt that fun in groups unless they let others join in the dps.

I have not experienced that, but will take your word for it. Seems like any well made toon dominates DDO before level 12.

Maybe you're just seeing experienced players that dominate on any toon. Maybe you're right, though. I will start paying more attention.

Absolutely plus the right gear can make a character very OP at lower levels. Some of the weapons made during the ice games for example can be used low level and by themselves can OP a character for 10 levels.

If Artys are balancing at around level 12 then I doubt they need a nerf. Reaching level 12 is a weekends worth of gaming with a couple of friends really.

I've only been playing a couple of months, but from what I've seen, most people who play Artificers are veterans, this means that they know how to gear, how to pick the right character stats, which weapon stats have the right effects etc. I doubt many people playing an artificer from scratch having never played the game would do as well.

The game is a lot easier in the early levels as well, my main character is a rogue, I was able to solo pretty much up til level 9 as a brand new player. Between 9-16 I felt fairly useless in a lot of groups but with some better weapons and a respec from Mechanic II and using a heavy repeater to Assassin and using a nice rapier and shortsword I feel much more viable in a group.

The right spec and the right gear make a massive difference.

Jeduthun I know many Vets like myself who have been collecting repeaters for years waiting for Turbine to give us a character to use them with so I think you absolutely right that many of the Artys are well equipped vets.
