Profession specific finishing moves. You know, a move that makes since for the character profession. Something turely elemental, nercrotic, etc. 1-3 different moves per-profession to start. Anything over that normal animation. I'd pay $9.99 for a single finishing move. Doesn't have to make it in by release, but definitely near the top of the to-do list.

The current finishing moves are only placeholders.

No. He just doesn't like the current placeholders so he is willing to buy better looking ones.

The store will most likely not be selling finishing moves.

Thats really something Id rather them just include.   Not sell as extra.

Thats game play flair.  Im not trying to be mean, but while we're at it, lets sell explosion animations.  And if you want to see your characters mouth move when they talk, lets sell that too.  Seriously, Im REALLY looking forward to GW2 but if this sort of thing started, Id probably not buy it or quit playing if I already had.

Costumes are fine.  Trans stones or whatever are fine.  Character slots okay.

    But not game animations.  Jeez.

This isn't something they generally sell in the shops. Usually they include it as an update or expansion. Shops typically sell cosmetic items, new dungeons / missions, and in GW1's case extra heros / slots.

For GW2 you can expect the same, so given what we know about launch:

    - New dungeons to explore, with new items dropped from bosses

    - New armor skins / dye colors / weapon skins

    - Extra character slots

    - Mini - pets / pet skins (aren't used for combat / don't have any effect on combat, purely cosmetic)

    * Possibly some type of particle fx. They added with with the Collector's Edition of GW1.

What would be next OP? Paying 10 cents for each time you jump and additional 40 cents when a summersault procs?

It's illegal to pay for girls in my state.  Plus, I like guys.  And it's illegal to pay for them, too.

Now, with that out of the way, on to the cash shop.  No finishing moves, certainly no skills or races or classes, no item in game that can't be gotten in game, and nothing whatsoever that affects pvp or pve abilities, stats, success, whatever.

Furniture for those too silly to enjoy going out and exploring to find the materials, then crafting it themselves.  Costumes with no stats of any kind.  Extra inventory space for completely insane OCD hoarder crafters (no one else should need to buy it and shouldn't have to).  But I confess, I'm an insane OCD hoarder crafter, so they'll probably soak me for a bit on that one.  Extra character slots, but once again, only for those who really overdo their alt rolling, there should be enough to satisfy your average gamer.  And yet again, I tend to overdo my alt rolling, so that's the only other cash shop item I'd likely be interested in.

And of course if I like the game (I really hope I do!) I'll buy the expansions when they come out.

I recently fired up Guild Wars after a 3-4 year haitus.  Saw players in some very strange costumes, pumpkinheads, no heads, ice elementals.  I don't see cool players, I see losers with no life.  SO that's what a cash shop is, you can buy a T-shirt that says, "I'm a loser with no life."

This sounds strangley familiar to what you did as a post.  There are a lot of people that may identify what you did with the same description.  Crazy world. image

I don't see them moving too far from the original GW in game store. Nothing that changes balance or give unfair advantage in game. Only fluff items, extra storage, name changes, gender changes, the usual.

I think some of you guys are either misreading or misunderstanding the OP. He's talking about extra fatality animations. Mortal Kombat currently does this. Every character has two fatalities, but you can pay extra for more. Why? Because fatalities don't matter. It's just a visual effect, exactly like a costume, which you can also buy in MK and will be able to buy in GW2.

I'm not opposed to such an idea, but I can say that it could easily get out of hand. In MK, it's never ambiguous when a player does a fatality. By that point, the battle has already been won. In GW2, the fight isn't over yet. Making too many fatalities or making their animations too outlandish could make it a little confusing, but there are also solutions to that, such as giving all fatalities a certain glow or showing some other universal indicator, as long as that indicator is on the characters instead of the interface.

    ^^^We have a winner^^^ and a few runner ups.

by the way things are looking right now, finishing moves would be catagorize as a fluff item and something that would fit nicely in the cash shop, provided that they would be account wide (arenanet) and not just character slotted (insert greedy developer name here). different finishing moves would not provide any advantage over the current "placeholder" (mentioned eariler) as long as they all take no more or less time, animation wise, to complete. to me, it would be worth the buy, and end up as another reason to support the game via real money purchase. while some people would be more inclined to show off their moves, other people will still weight the options first when stratagies are concerned. that's part of what seperates the good players from the bad. ironicly though, the same would still apply even if i never posted this thread. if arenanet ships the game with different "placeholders" like what im asking, then all the merrier. some of the responses to my op is nearly beyond belief. im almost tempted to ask for whatever you're currently taking.

This is actually a very logical thing to add in a cash shop.  It's completely cosmetic, offers no gameplay advantages over other players, and if they look cool enough, people will buy them.  It's exactly the kind of thing a cash shop with GW2's philosophy is designed to sell.

I have no opinion about the matter.

It wont affect the game balance, but it would suck if the regular animation were bad. As lonfg as it looks fine I don't care either way.

I don't see myself paying for something like this unless the regular animation is painfully bad.

Just goes to prove that there is a sucker born every minute.  You would actually pay for what should be in the game at launch?  I guess I just don't understand what you mean by the term or why you would pay for "finishing move."

Thats too bad.  But thats why theres a cash shop in these F2P games, without them for companies to bring in some revenues, do you think you can play the game for free? Should be thankful there are these "losers" you so speak of.

Well they claim that B2P is perfectly viable. Unless they mean a F2P with the additional cost of buying the game is viable, which of course is since most F2P games don't make you buy the game in the first place. I think it'd be braver of them to stand by their claim that B2P is enough and not have a cash shop.

You actually care that they sell cosmetic items in cash shop? Of all the insignificant things to complain about. If you don't like it, then don't use it.

Selling cosplayers costumes is just good buisness. I don't care if other people like to put on silly outfits.
