I also felt that the voice acting was a quite a bit off in some of the videos, and it straight up glitched out during one of the presentations I saw. Good to know they are already working on fixing it (though it would be nice to know what exactly they told the reviewer), that in particular was very jarring for me to see.

    - To the poster talking about the necro heal, it's not the only one. There are other heals that will probably suit your playstyle quite a bit better. I think that particular heal (the one which summons a minion) is meant more for minion masters. Not sure why it's the default one in the demos, as they get some other heals that are more dependable.

The situation with the ranger's pet is rather frustrating. I hope they do end up changing that, though it's the type of thing that can easily screw with balancing. Pets gain buffs & such from allies, and if they are too difficult to kill, we could see something similar to the IWAY rush, or beastmaster rush from GW1, lol. It's already pretty awesome that the pet can revive you if not dealt with.

Can't wait for this game to come out, but I will as long as they keep improving it.

I’m afraid I cannot say as to what ArenaNet are working on.  Bobby Stein and Colin told me in confidence after the event, after they read a draft of my Impressions.  It wouldn’t be right of me to divulge when they’ll obviously want to show off whatever it is they are working on.

Thank you for the kind words everyone.  Gushy? Yes, unashamedly.  When you’ve been waiting for a game for 5 years, and it actually turns out to be amazing, I think you are allowed to ;)

Feel free to ask any questions here also and I’ll pick them up and hopefully be able to respond! :)

Excellent write-up, I especially liked the fact you went indepth when it came to the PvP experience and all the options available to players. On a related note, are red and blue uniforms for teams subject to change? I remember there was some grumbling about that. Can't wait to see what secret changes they have in store for the somewhat "off" cinematic dialog segments.

I really hope they never change. The PvP is too fast and too frantic to not have it. You need the clear colour indicator based on the different class and race silhouettes. Without colour identification it would just be too difficult.

The first thing you need to identify is the enemy and then the class. The team colouring does just this.

They confirmed in an interview that the team apperance in PvP is still subject to change, they want to allow customization to a certain degree, but without sacrificing the instant recognizability.

Very happy to hear that.  As silly as it seems, that was one huge reason I couldn't get into GW1 very much.  The characters just felt like they hover-glided over the terrain while their legs churned in a running animation.

The rest of the article was overwhelmingly positive as well, which was great to hear, especially since the author didn't seem to be a closed-minded fanboy.

I'm with you on that, when I tried Guild Wars, the female character run animations irritated the crap out of me.  Just because I play a girl doesn't mean I want her to run like one!

I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

I agree here. While I am fine with a feminine animation on a female avatar, their animation for Guild Wars 1 was absolutely horrible (wrists and hands turns out away from the body as if tippie-toeing around). Also, the exact same animation was used on every avatar.

MMOs Played: I can no longer list them all in the 500 character limit.

This is by far one of the best write ups I have read. The PvP stories were so well written, that I could see what was going on in my minds eye (well my imagination of what I was reading). I was also glad to read that PvP seems to be very much personal skill based and not so much Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock.

While I am sure that I will eventually play the PvE experience of GW2, I fully intend to immerse myself in the PvP world.

I've always had kind of an issue with the human looks and animations in both GW1 and 2.  In video footage I've seen, they still seem to "glide".  The other races are fairing much better IMO.

Also.... 4 pages?  Looks like everyone took their grudge match to the TOR version of this thread. lol
