Hi all new to this game have a couple of questions.

1. What is the most socially active server?

2. Whats the best starter city?

3. Are there guilds in this game and is there a website that I could check out to find people that recruit.

Aside from that if there are any hints or tips you could pass along they would greatly be appreciated....thank you.

I'm sorry that Xzen trolled you with such horrible misinformation.

    1. Selbina

    2. Gridania (starter city only determines the start of your main story, and Gridania's is the best).  Of course this is subjective if you like pirates then Limsa is probably more your cup of tea, forest/nature/magic Gridania, and desert/mercenaries/death cult Ul'dah (I picked Ul'dah, but the gridania story is pretty good).

    3. They are called linkshells, you can be in multiple linkshells at one time.

The website you should check out is: http://www.ffxivpro.com/search/linkshell?q=

Most new players join Casual/leveling linkshells so limit your search to those on the server you choose.  Another place you could check out would be the official world forums where sometimes people post recruiting adverts, but XIVpro is used more often by most linkshells.

Tips:  Level Conjurer up to get cure (r4), and once you start grouping raise (r14), and once you start soloing at high levels cure II (20).  Level Pugilist for Second Wind (big self cure on fairly short cool down), archer/lancer for their self damage buffs (raging strike and ferocity).

1-10 can be grinded out in less than 30 minutes so don't waste your time with quests unless you want to get a reward from them.

Here is a list of sidequests and their rewards:

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/7722-List-of-All-Sidequests-(work-in-progress).?highlight=list+sidequests

Once you are ~20 guildleves become a good, albiet boring compared to group grinding, way to get XP either solo or in a group.  You want to do the guildleve below and closest to your rank so 20-28 at r20 camps, 28-38 at r30 camps, r38-50 at r40 camps.  You want to complete them on the highest difficulty which you can speedily beat them at.  Most of the XP comes at the end and is tied to how quickly you beat the guildleve/its difficulty.

Ul'dah is the social capital of Eorzea at the moment being the central city, to find groups for just about anything it is your best bet.

Selbina is such an exponentially better server than Mhlamydia.
