LF Game like Eden Eternal

newbismnewbism Member Posts: 39

Do any games exist with intstant class changes like Eden Eternal? The game is way too child-like for me.  Even though i like the design it seems like it's made for 5 year olds.

The only other game i can think of is FFXI but i have issues with squareenix

if you find one do let me know, i liked EE's system but i hate their heavy grinding and cash shop dependancy...

FFXIV also has the system, but as youve said you have issues with Square Enix, thats a non option to I presume.

Its not a very popular model but I expect Eden Eternal may have opened some eyes, theres definitley a market for it.

To a lesser extent, Rift and Runes of Magic. I haven't played it, but from my understanding in Rift you choose one of 4 archetypes, and then freely switch between 4 of 8 "souls" depending on your archetype. A soul is basically a class. Each archetype has at least one soul for each role, so you can effectively switch between tank, dps, and healer/supporter at any time. You just won't have every class available to you.

Runes of Magic, your character can have up to 3 classes. One is active (you can use every skill), one is secondary (you can't use special class skills), and the other is on standby (you can't use any skills). I imagine that with this system you could also switch between roles freely. (Again, I haven't played much RoM)

Five levels ago I probably would have responded with "What heavy grind?"  But I reached the 20s and that was more than enough for me. :)

I agree with Seinaru - Rift seems like a good game for you to try.

There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

You think 20s is bad, I made it to 36 with bard in CBT and at 35 its even rougher and that is killing 6-8 mobs AoEing with the bard AoE DoT.

EE was the easiest grind in any game I've played. All you had to do was get to 45 and mob up entire instances and DoT them with bard. Then find another person to play their bard while your level your alts, and vice versa. Voila, all your classes are maxed out in ~3 days.

Anyways... I'm looking for a game like EE as well. The grind was easy and totally okay by me.. but the cash shop dependency and the fact that everyone had bots farming for them killed it.

You can have all 8 souls from a given "master " class, which could be counted as classes in their own right however  you have to pick a "master " class which determines most of your roles. You have the usual warrior, rogue, cleric and mage master classes which all have their own souls or sub classes if you will. The most notable differences between the master classes are mages have no tank soul, warriors have no healer soul, rogues have no caster soul (unless you count bard as one) and clerics have no dedicated support soul.

all in all i think the souls are better compared to talent trees with their own unique set of spells/skills which get unlocked the more points you spend in that particular soul tree. It's not a bad system were it not that they keep pigeon holing people into picking certain combos and "punishing" people that creatively made their build to do say, lots of damage, by nerfing the synergy or simply lowering damage output on a given soul.

thats what eventually made me quit since i wasn't allowed to play certain soul combos which i truly liked in raids and dungeons because they got nerfed to be useless/incompatible.
