Scarlet legacy Cbt impressions

I generally check mmorpg daily to see what happening in the gaming world and to see what new offers and beta's are out there. I tend to find myself always looking for something new to keep my attentions. Being a former WoW player I have found that I have some high standards of what I want in a game. So when I saw cbt key plus a possible chance to win prizes for scarlet legacy I thought sure why not. So I went and downloaded the cliently. Luckly I already played Heroes in the Sky so I didnt have to make an account...When the game launched I was in...First thoughts were ok its like wow with three kindoms feel...

I was wrong. The game while in many ways had the same features as wow it was in many ways supieor to it. First combat was extermely fluid, and yet challenging. However I later came to find out the challenge wasnt due the hardness of the monsters but rather myself not fully expoloring one of the greatest features I have ever had in a game...Scarlet legacy has a combat assistant. So you set it to a certain percentage and when the game notices your health or mana or sp got to that percentage it cast a pot or food or drink to get this back up. Yes in gaming we call this a bot. However most bots only allow a single option and one variable this one allows 2..So you set one for say 66% and one for 25% to cover you from dying and you can just focus purely on the action. Another aspect of the combat assist was actually combat. Have you ever had a quest go kill 120 of these things, or your just grinding out a mob for drops...gets old fast and most of the time you would rather watch a movie...Well with one simple turn on feature and setting up my skills using drag and drop I was able to sit back and grind out almost 2000 kills before I ran out of health and mana supplies. Now where is the fun in that you say?

The fun comes from when you realize one of the biggest turn off's of a mmo is the grinding of the same guys over and over and having to waste so much of your life doing it. Now you can start the process go make dinner talk to a friend watcha movie and let it go...This was just a great feature and really made alot of the game enjoyable up to about 28...Afte that level I found the things I were fighting could actually over a small amount of time kill me...So here I had to regular combat, but by this point I had a greater understandings of the mechanics of my class and was able to lay down some great combo's to take them out quickly.

Now the economy in the game is rather bleak to say the least. however at only level 30 I didnt expect to see much of money being made in game. Materials for crafting always seem to be the biggest items. The reason why is the time it takes to get enough items to craft is rather steep, however for good reason. All crafted items are better then merchant items and many of the mid grade to higher grade gear you can get is craftable long as you have a good standing with a faction....Now unlike other mmo's your crafting is not singualr. You can make food and still make weapons and armor or gems..It does not punish you...Now much like the auto assist foraging for mats is also automatic. Yes no more running around looking for mining nodes or trees to cut down or any of that jazz. Just use your mining hoe or shears or hunting bow and sit back..Mind you it does take a bit to actually get enough to craft and you generally need 2 types of mats to make one main mat for crafting as well as a mold of some sort for the crafting...While this may seem time consuming, I just started mining before I went to sleep woke up and was able to craft as much as I wanted...I was able to get to weapons 4 which had weapons that were better then some of what I had. And at level 4 I was allowed to craft some of the good blue items that you can craft if you had good standing with a faction....

Class balance...This is where the game needs some help...As it stands monks and Mystics are the most verstile pvp classes and able to own pretty much all other classes. Assasins on the other hand lack alot of the traits you would expect from the class, but they make up for it with some nasty damage outputs, this is why the aggro dropping ability has a very short recharge timer...:) Most deadly imo in pvp is the mystic. It can sleep freeze and pretty much chain this and slow to keep out of harms way and spam many of its offensive skills while also able to heal itself...The monk is similar but with more defense and hp and still able to self heal. Now I was only able to play to lvl 30 so there may be more skills and abilities that could help combat these two op classes. Now when it comes to Pve dungeon raids the games is rather fun. Easy to follow pathing. Bosses with niffty and sometimes rather annoying abiliies, With drops that can really help you out alot, and that will keep people in these dungeons every day to increase crafting materials as well as upgraded materials...Pve combat between the classes is relatively balanced and roles are about the same as in other games.

Mini games. at first I was unsure what this was or if it worked, till I just waited for it to start, note didnt see the timer display. Mini games can be a wide variety of things from wack a mole(demon) to 20 gus vs 7 uber bosses. They help to keep they typical same old same old feel of a mmo away and they can be alot of fun. The ranking system for these games is also cool and lets you know where you stand in the greater scheme and that you need to improve...You also get victory medals for this which you can turn in for some cool prizes, and to make it better everyone gets a prize and the better you do the more you get....

Mounts of all the games I have played...some 66 or so, the ones in this game are both funny and awesome looking. Nothing was more funny then rolling around with cannibals carrying me around on a stick...I even had people say wait is the game eating players now. Which made me laugh so hard. Though for those of you who like simplicty a hourse is available, but between the cannibals and the  running around with my butt on firer I just couldnt get enough and was rather enjoying it.

Now the greatest test I could do for a mmo is get some one who never really played a game before and see how they enjoyed it. While frustrating having to explain mmo basics, she was able to pick up on how to play the game with a few helpful hints and was kicking some serious mmo butt. She is now jonesing waiting for obt to start so I guess thats another indication of a good game...

In game lag was almost non existant, and being able to pug a party for some dungeon battles was pretty easy, though a lfg interface would have been nice and would greatly enrich the game, but again I was spoled by wow so not realy all that important. Even under heavy load not any lag, other then in city where there were about 1000 people standing around. Under below peak times I was still able to pug as much as I needed or wanted. So player base was relatively active which is always a thing to consider for a game.

Conclusion...Great game lots of features and quest. Heavy pvp and pve elements, decent story line, great little features for all to enjoy, easy to play, challenging to master, All in all worth checking out....Obt goes live 8/18/11 so head to

And check it out.
