SWG before the fall that is, currently they are still there but eh, everyone working toward their end story so way less dynamics going on then it used to be.

AoC has a healthy population, always had but restricted to guild and a few public places. (and a bit more mature then most can handle ;) )

CO always had a good bunch of role-play,just stay out of the club as thats the hangout spot for Mary Sue and kitty cat vs daemon RP.

CoX always had a good rp populations but now that its older its harder to find and same warning there as for CO, there just seem to be a natural attraction to kitty drama and daemon emo RP in those games ;)

there has not bin much of a great rp scene in the past years much like the degradation of MMO's them selfs the populations of different kind of play styles also took a good blow.

For the next years SW:Tor might be a nice place but only due to sheer numbers and not for the game great rp mechanical support.

TSW is the same story it will allow mostly likely to have a great character concept and some great RP but again, the mechanics to be seem to be lacking. theres only so much to do when all a game has is a central Catina and quest to roam. (not that it cant be fun but it does restrict)

that was were SWG was shining, being able to build a city, dress up how you like and roam a open world were you even could create story's using the design mechanics made SWG one of if not the best RP MMO ever to see the light of day.

ArcheAge might bring a lot back to the scene as it offers a lot more then just running quest.

I always had high hopes for EVE online to become a great place to rp in, But whit  the way they are handling the new expansion to characters lately and the bad reputation it got I doubt they can turn the tables and destroyed something that could have become something great before its completed even.

basically theres RP in about every game out, but as long game mechanics do not support that play style it will always be a matter of finding a guild to play whit and just sit in Catina's/hot spots and chat.

Personally I given up on all current MMO's many games have bin sleeping whit little to no development time milking subs or going directly against the niche they were made for in the first place in order to try and "steal" some casual market share away often not realizing that 99% of the market is going for that thus making competition only harder while at the same time destroying the fun for their original player base.  bla bla bla bla.. for now I just forum hop and wait for the new games  to come out before involving myself into the great practice of role-play again.

Edit: mayor spelling check and stuff (I hate mmorpg's editor grr)

i am looking forward to Archeage. i never played SWG starwars never appealed to me

i have played age of conan alot but got burnt out of its repetive content and a game like that being f2p does not appeal to me at all (to many little boys getting exited about extremely developed wiggling boobs)

    +1 for truthiness

just make sure to land on the right server, you can find those by checking the LotRO forums in either the guild recruitment section or the rp section.

also, very helpful community for the most part, even on the glfg channel, which is something akin to 'Barrens Chat'.

an infinite game for the purpose of continuing play."
