Theyre probably working on lineage 3. It was either leaked or announced in years past that this game was in the works.

It's safe to say that GW2 is now in the stage where it can be developed without the A-team just fine. This is good news to those who are following the game!

This is also good news to those who follow  the lineage series. Your game is underway.

All I have to say in regards to the OP is....... so?

If you look at NCSoft, this is nothing new or out of the ordinary for them. As has been stated they are the publisher, they are usually on multiple projects at the same time, churning out MMOs and pseudo-MMOs is what they do.

But as the publisher, don't they have an impact on the game? Well of course they do, but not nearly as much as you might think. Anet has also done a great job with their agreement with NCSoft, to keep the control over the game's content in their hands.

Basically, cause I know this isn't always clear, the publishers are the budget holders. They set the deadlines based on the budget, and keep track of overall progress. That's it. They can suggest things for the game, but the developers can just as easily go 'thanks, but no thanks'. This dynamic only changes in situations where a company is financially rocky, and is overly dependant on a publisher / shareholder to fund their product. Keep in mind that Anet is funding a lot of this game themselves, using revenue they generated with the sales from GW1.

It'll be interesting to hear what they are working on, but beyond that this isn't any cause for concern.

There are completly diffrent studios. Under the nc soft brand but carbine and arena net are completly diffrent dev teams. One team has nothing to do with another. this argument holds no water because they arent removing anyone from anything.

Nc soft is the publisher and the developers are the studios arena net and carbine they have completly diffrent teams that work on games with no cross over.

Yes they are.  NCSoft has determined that GW2 hasn't sold enough copies yet.

    /sarcasm off

Arena Net is not going anywhere, and they are developing a very good game in GW2.

NCSoft is one BIG company.  Under their umbrella is FAR more than just GW2 - they have multiple development studios.

It's like complaining EA does too many games at time....

People mix publisher with developer too often. 1 publisher like EA can have 50 developing studios working for them.

Same deal with NCSoft and ANet. ANet is just one of studios that is responsible for the making of gw2.

Because the OP is a swtor follower that does not understand the difference between developer and publisher.

Funny that he really thinks EA are the developers of swtor if he thinks the same about GW2.

If you have a look over in Carbines Blog you will see that they are announcing their game at gamescon.

One of these new MMOs that NCSoft just announced is being developed by Carbine Studios, and the other might just be an in-house development.

It will not affect development on GW2.

We really need separate forums for every newly launched game. There can be the anti-<MMO> one and there can be the 'what general discussion should be' one. All the lamenting can happen together where each can find solace in like minded can't-move-on-ers leaving the rest of us to actually move forward and discuss meaningful and relevant topics.
