I have fond memories of Roleplaying the masquerade in central park at 3am when i was a teen.
Been following this ip forever now and even though i have my doubts; if anyone could make a good mmo with this IP its CCP.

It was already confirmed last year that the MMO will be based off of Vampire: The Masquerade. You can read about it here:

Hopefully it will live up to the IP. Hard to say at this time, though, since there's virtually no hard information available about the game.

Where did you get that idea? I've never heard any mention that WoD would be pay to win in any way. As far as that goes...I don't think they're far enough into development to have mentioned ANYTHING about a pay model. I would surely like to know where you heard this though, if you did.

Of course, the above was not the way we had meant to release info and to be honest, virtually all of what is here is in the evaluation stages. Nothing is set in stone - this was more of an internal status update.

p.s. Payment model is probably decided before development begins. You can't be in the middle of building a game and decide suddenly that you want to go the other way. Not to mention, your publisher would take away your funding instantly unless there was a good reason to switch.
That would be the line from disgruntled EVE players, The pay model will PROBABLY be similar to EVE (i.e. subscription with a cash shop) The cash shop will most likely start with cosmetic items (some of which people will criticize for being overpriced) then cautiously add convenience items, etc.
They haven't stated how their payment model will be, but either way it appears there will be a cash shop. Based on the fact that they hired clothing designers; I think it strongly suggests that there will be a heavy development based on the idea of players purchasing cash shop items and charging a full $15 monthly subscription would be a risky decision.
If the shop prices are anywhere near NeX prices, then it would be better for MMOs in general that it fails.
Well... i can say right now that this gamde will never reach the level of detail and aherence to the PnP game that the most hardcore fans want, i think it will be a very nice game tho.
As for setting it in the now dead VtM era is pretty smart... It has a built in fan base and a much clearer faction system with the "good" Camarilla and the "bad" Sabbat unlike VtR that is more free for all.
As for the cash-shop... I have problem plunking down some money for cosmetic items... And perhaps they can make some deals and get real brands in the cash shop. That would be pretty interesting actually.
But yeah... "teh fanboys" will rage about all the things that is not exatvly as it should be and i am sure that you will not be able to make a Monty wannabe.

Lets just hope that CCP does not stretch themselves too think by trying to tackle three massive games at the same time. As for the costumes, it worked for LOTRO, so I don't see how it couldn't work for WoD.
In the internal newsletter that was released CCP clearly stated that they plan three types of Item mall items: Cosmetic, "Items of Power" and "Concierge services".
Cosmetics are what they are and while overall I'd rather not have any Item mall, having these items wouldn't make me not play.
Concierge Services sound to me like character transfers and account nicities. I'm kinda whatever on this too. I'll still buy.
Items of Power to me constitute some level yet to be defined of pay to win. This I don't like. This is the point to here I'm on the fence about buying the game.

The four overall themes they intended to have in the game are:

-They will not be catering to immaturity in the game, however, they would like to see these types of offenses policed by players, rather than in-game mechanics.

-They confirmed that factions and territories will almost certainly be a big part of the game.
-They confirmed that the game will definitely contain gay clubs. This is an excellent angle to cater to the gay and lesbian audience.
-They again, did confirm, that starting off there would only be Vampires, but one of the other developers also confirmed that there would be playable human classes -- although nothing specific. I only can assume he means the likes of ghouls and hunters.
-The game will be fully PvP, i.e. there may be Elysium areas, but nothing like the flagging system, as seen in PvE WoW servers.
-In regards to the development cycles, some disciplines simply will not be included because they are way too complicated to implement well -- specifically, Temporis.

So, lots of stuff to get excited about or turned off by, depending on who you are and what you're interested in. I'm a huge fan of Vampire: the Masquerade and Vampire: Requiem, and I'm also one of those females the quote said CCP was targeting, so their stated interest in making the game attractive to me was lovely to hear. Seeing huge customization options, alternatives to combat-based gameplay, and aspects of both romance and mystery really intrigued me; Permadeath (which is still hypothetical at this stage) is something I suppose I could tolerate if it's handled right, but I completely checked out at the "full pvp" part, which I'm sure is an aspect that will both attract and repel a lot of people. There aren't a lot of AAA full-pvp games out, so I don't begrudge the community the title, but I was really looking forward to this one. The loss of it stings more than a little.
If they (CCP) handle full Pvp like they do in EvE I think it'll be ok. What many outsiders (people who have never played V:TM) don't know is that in this setting vampires can't just go around hey willy nilly killing each other. A Prince (and the clan of the deceased) would be very offended (the former at you killing one of his subjects and the latter at you killing a clanmate). A Blood Hunt would be called and you'd have an Archon on your arse.
And for those that think "Oh, that would be neat"...9 out of 10 times the offending vampire is indeed caught and executed. So, if they follow that pattern and back it up with a permanent death (i.e., you eithe re-roll or cancel your account) solution, I'm good with that.
Sure, vampires fight amongst themselves but that doesn't mean it always (or even 50%) gets physical and certainly ever deadly.
Unless those Sabbat bastards show up. Those you can fry. All of them.

Permadeath and ffa pvp could actually work well together I think.Say permadeath was something the player risked happening if they chose to just randomly grief and kill other players unprovoked and without warrant.
I am not a fan of full PvP at all. It creates so many scenarios for griefing and people whos only intent is to make the game experiences for others miserable.
That being said I would be ok with it if it was set up under this structure. Sort of like the ship/pod set up in EvE.
Regular PvP: You are a vampire out in a dangerous area. You get jumped by Sabbat or other vampires. You are defeated. You get sent into Torpor and the other vampires go on their way. Maybe you lose 1 item. A game mechanic is set-up where your ghouls "carry" you back to your haven. You start with no permanent penalties but maybe lose a temp willpower and some blood that needs to be reearned.
Hardcore PvP: You are a vampire out in a dangerous area. You get jumped by Sabbat or other vampires. You are deafeated. You get sent into Torpor and the other vampires kill/diablirize you. You suffer skill penalties or are permadead and get points to use to make a new character. The offending vampire/vampires are now Red Listed. An Anathema is called and depending on the reputation level of the killed vampire, a Prince, Archon, or Justicar will persue the offenders. Also the offenders will be tagged and can be killed by any PC vampire with no penalty. For diablerists, there will be a timer which will show how long the diablerie can be spotted(black veins shows you have consumed another vampire) and it must be timed out in game time so people won't diablerize and then not log in for 1-2 months.
These players would probably band together and stay in the 0.0 equivalent of WoD. High bounties would be given out to motivate people to take action beyond any in game or IC ramifications. I don't have a probably with full PvP as long as the consequences are large enough for those who go beyond Torporing others.
As far as the Item Shop goes, I think CCP was fully remonded of their boundaries by EvE players a couple months back so hopefully they know how far they can go before the playerbase pushes back.
Weirdly enough, I had two games I wanted to make when I was a teen (Im 29). One was an open world cowboy game where you could go anywhere, do anything, etc. Then they made Red Dead Redemption. It was almost exactly what I imagined. The other?
I wanted to make an mmorpg based on Vampire the Masquerade. I had all sorts of plans in my head how the game would play and work. And now? They're making that too. When I heard about the game being developed, I actually laughed out loud.
Cant complain. The industry has succeeded in making two of my dream games. Im just kind of sad I had no hand in making either of them. But I sure will play them. Its kind of a daydream come true.

If you look at the teaser video from last years Masquerade http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5Wsf31WIdY , it pretty clearly is modern. If you look at 1:40, it pretty clearly shows a vampire running on a subway, followed by a vampire jumping with a background of modern buildings.
It will live up to my expectations if it meets the following:
- One-off payment, no monthly descriptions.
- Expansions
- Very good graphics. Getting really, really sick of newly released MMORPG/MMO's with crappy graphics. Make me wonder why I bought a $700 GPU when a $150 could perform the same.
- A team dedicated to fixing bugs.
- Servers across the world to reduce latency and discourage international players from entering servers from the other side of the world.
- Freedom to transfer/login characters on other servers when moving to another country. I don't the idea of spending 800hrs on a character just to face a problem when I decide to move countries.
- Mod-kit release. allows players to modify certain aspect/things in the game such as UI interface, character clothing, etc. Of course, these changes don't effect the game world otherwise it would take hours to log in.
- Alot of gore and blood, and decapitations. The idea of logging on then coming out of an apartment to see two factions effing eachother with pools of blood, limbs, guts, eye balls, brain matter and other humanly crap all over the street and able to participate it by simply drawing out my gun will be a dream. Being able to sneak up behind a player to unload a clip of mp5k into his chest and watching all the guts, intestines and blood spray out! This will be legen- wait for it..............
DARY!
I must still be missing something. I don't see a pay to win setup here. Your definition of pay to win must be really far reaching.
