eq2x is not a rip off... It is the most populated server with the best comunity if you want everything just pay 15 a month the only thing you dont get is races which you can buy 3 for 7.50. if you are starting new at eq2 i would start playing at eq2x.

Dude...$15 a month gets you EVERYTHING on EQ2 Live.
I personally prefer EQ2X but Live does have advantages
especially when the new dungeon finder (due in august) expands to Cross server
the Live version will have faster grouping

Mmmm... maybe. The population on Freeport is really, really high, especially sub-cap. Probably you're right for upper-level dungeons, but I suspect that it'll be pretty useful for low and mid levels.

I just started EQ2X yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see such a populated new player starting area. Sure, I wasn't able to roll a Dark Elf Necromancer, but when I realized one of the standard races actually had the highest Int I was fine with it. (Not much of a role player)
I thought of buying Live, but right now it seems SOE is devoting the greater amount of attention to EQ2X for the new player experience with Live's focus being more on the end game experience for long term players.
15.0 a month (w/o having to buy anything) is a good deal, and its likely to be a long time before I catch up to the latest expansion.

Yep, and before someone cries out "The EQ2 lives servers are dead." Yes, low to mid levels you will rarely come across a soul. The vast majority are at the level cap. But the big plus side is, by joining one of the many old, established guilds avaliable you'll rarely have trouble finding people to help you out. Doing a bit of research into guilds will help out alot and community is not hard to find. Eq2x is just a plain old rip off and stinks of the usual SOE greed sadly.
Ive played both Live and EQ2x
ive been playing as Gold on EQ2X for a year
On EQ2X you dont get all races -- BIG DEAL
otherwise its the same as live and NOT a ripoff

I keep hearing this and maybe it's true on some servers, but on AB I've been playing a lot on a couple of different characters at different places in the sub-50 range, and I'm seeing other players at those levels very consistently. Maybe this is just AB, and maybe it will dry up once everyone's used up their 45 free days, and maybe it's just veteran players on alts, but I'm not seeing a total lack of players in the lower levels.

I prefer eq2x over live. Sure I don't get all the races. Oh wait I let some companies give me insurance quotes, and answered some surveys so yes I do have all the races. Also have all the classes that I wish to play, and if I want to play another I can just purchase it. I usually maintain gold, but if money happens to be tight for the month (it does happen in this economy) I can drop to silver and keep playing. I lose a few bag slots, and stuff but I still get to keep playing. Can't get that on live so for me extended wins out.
