Dog MMO

If you were to make an MMORPG about dogs, what type of content would you have?

For example,

Skills, Attributes, Hobbies, Events, Bosses, and  Items?

Maybe a mailman raid? New collars and claw weapons?  Digging biscuits out of stuffed animals and working your way up to steaks from large game?

What are your silly ideas?

If i was ever to make a game like that i would run out infront of the first bus i saw.

If your on the side that likes it great. If your on the side that doesn't,thats great. If your on the side that will argue til your face turns blue about pointless this or that comparisons, you've come to the right gaming site.

Is Nintendo in the MMO business yet?  You could corner a niche market on the Wii.. Nintendogs Online?

I remember reading about an MMO where players are deer, and use gestures to communicate. Can't remember the name for the life of me, might've been scrapped since I saw nothing more of it.

EDIT: No such thing as deers. Found game, http://tale-of-tales.com/TheEndlessForest/

What about homeless dogs? Or wild dogs? You'd constantly be looking for food and marking your territory.

Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.

I would have running with your nose buried in the snow, hanging your head out the window with your tongue out, drooling, chasing your tail, barking in your sleep, eating your own poop, rolling on dead animals...but I would totally put a cap on those skills.

That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!

The dogs would spend their days fighting against the evil cats led by dark postmen. Harvesting resources would be done by digging holes on lawns to obtain bones, but one would have to be careful to avoid the gardeners while doing that. The bones would then heal and/or give buffs when eaten.

For a dog game, I would create an interactive break-havoc simulator.

I would also include a high-mobility environment, so that dogs will have to try escape dog catchers by running around, climbing stuff and sneaking away.

A barking/howling concert with all the alley dogs could be fun I think.

Dog customization options! Color, size, breed etc.

I would create some kind of dog-hierarchy pvp system, where dogs being clever peeing on the environment gain a bonus when confronting contenders to the alpha male dog in an area.

    Dog porn, hilarious.

It would be cool to play an mmo where all you did is run around neighborhoods killing dogs with various weapon types.  Imagine the satisfying "crunch" you would hear when smashing a dogs skull open with a baseball bat  :D  You could call it Ridding Your Neighborhood of Smelly, Ugly, Disgusting, Annoying, and Dangerous Pests Online.

I almost want to try it....

I'd make it post-apocalyptic and dogs have taken over. Turns out dogs were as smart as people all along, but just very lazy. "get yer paws off me you damn dirty dog!"

    Or maybe

Where you are dog bail bondsmen and live on a volcanic island. You have to arrest bad dogs. You have a sweet mullet type grooming and can use pepper spray.

    Or maybe

A more traditional fantasy game with people that look like their wearing dog or cat ears, skimpy alleged armor, tails, and use swords bigger than a house.

"Never met a pack of humans that were any different. Look at the idiots that get elected every couple of years. You really consider those guys more mature than us? The only difference between us and them is, when they gank some noobs and take their stuff, the noobs actually die." - Madimorga

Pretty strange lol, I am tempted too.

But what fun is it being a deer if you don't get shot at or hit by cars, definetly needs some AI hunters and roads to cross in there somewhere haha.

And really a Dog MMO sounds kinda funny.

You could make it a territory conquest game where you have to maintain your claim by urinating on it daily.

PVE could involve hunting and PVP would be battling other dogs.

Like wolves you could dig dens in your controlled territory.

    Abilities:

Growl: Causes a fear debuff effect on target

Howl: Inspires your allies in combat

Bark: Crowd Control like a stun on your target

    Bite: An attack obviously

    Play Dead: Feign death

    Roll Over: Dodge incoming attacks

    Here is an idea:

Having the players play dogs which has to learn to communicate with eachother via observing humans, by playing around in the environment doing tasks interacting with npc humans, thus learning to try convey vaguely meaningful messages to eachother.  The point is to forget about how dogs really are able to communicate and think, but to pretend that a lolcat type of logic would apply to dogs, as dogs interact with eachother to accomplish tasks.

I guess the interface would have to be some kind of menu offering choices being human words, that can be arranged into vaguely meaningful sentences to the player itself, and then when expressed, it sounds like dogs howling and barking, and maybe gesturing, but the effect are the words/sentences that show up on the console for every other player in the vicinity.

I imagine that a unskilled dog might be perceived to say  [the dog barking + words appearing on screen: food-wall-now! + some kind of body gesture], when what it wants to say, is to get help climbing a wall to get some food or something.

Heh, this is an underdeveloped idea, you people have been warned.
