Was curious to how many people would consider giving Warhammer another shot.
What things would you want them to do to make you consider coming back? Or would you never go back?

I loved warhammer online its just that you died way too fast in RvR while solo and the end game pve was really bland.
Don't get me wrong it was a great a game with alot of good ideas, it just didn't get the time it deserved to make it work.
Warhammer is actually one of my favorites ! I loved it..RvR was just awsome , but to many of my freinds quit the game.
If it ever went to F2p i would be all over it like a fat kid on a cupcake. every once in awhile ill play for 2 weeks when they offer me the free 2 weeks to come back. which is like every 3 months or so.
Atm..i would not pay to play with the dying population. Dont get me wrong its a great game that needs some work. Its a game i always keep my eye on , on a weekly basis. Just hoping by some miracle it goes f2p or they pull some kinda stunt to get there population back.
Yeah same here. I got the game i think like its second month out or something. Sadly at the time my computer wasn't good enough too really keep up with good action so i had to quit. But i always check on it often. When i finally got a good computer i heard the game was on its death bed. I didn't know much about it anyways but from the tier 1 scenieros i did . how great the public quest were and just how beautiful the enviroment was. I just checked on it though and it seems to be still going. I was alittle heart broken though when i seen them bragging on thier site about having 5000 likes on facebook. I found it really sad. It honestly makes me want to do something to help them. With that being said. I am downloading the game and trying it out now.
Ive always rooted for the underdog
%^#$ mainstream games!
lol ^_^
Possibly, if it sounded like they took a serious pass at class/combat design, CC design, and fixing getting stuck on bits of terrain.
Honestly a "PVP MMORPG" without solid class/combat design (let alone terrible CC design) is sort of a joke. You can't have good PVP if nearly every class facerolls their abilities with virtually zero reaction to enemy abilities.

I think at this point I would be more likely to try WAR again than DAoC. However, I'm not exactly sure what could get me to try WAR again.
The game had issues at launch obviously but I played through most of it. What killed it for me? Well I actually liked the siege parts. Take a fort or defend. What the game turned into on my server was people ignoring forts. Doing the circle around to the other points I can't even remember what they were called.
So both sides were avoiding actually pvp'ing to just level because they decided fort fights took to long or something. *yawn*
So for me it wasn't even the "game" it was how the game was being played. Then again I only made it to 30 something so I never suffered through the "end game" but that didn't even work at the time.. anyway.
I was one of those dumba**es that got WAR when it went live. Collector's Edition to top it off. I'll never, ever go back to playing that game even if I was paid to do so.
Limited character building / customizaiton.
Visual character customization was practically nonexistent.
Graphically unimpressive even at its time of release.
PvP was essentially confined to Scenarios / instances. RvR, the main draw of the game, just wasn't occuring.
Classes horribly, horribly unbalanced in PvP.
Nothing else outside PvE questing or Scenario PvP. Not enough depth.
The background was okay, and the quests for Orcs were more humorous. The idea of WAR seemed enticing but after a few months of playing it, it began to feel flat until the point of utter disappointment and wondering, "Why am I still playing?" So I left. Never coming back to this.
"I have only two out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." (First Lieutenant Clifton B. Cates, US Marine Corps, Soissons, 19 July 1918)
Yes... I do play the game. But heres my perspective, coming from a player that has played since launch:
Yes population has dwindled since release. I have plenty of friends who are discouraged from playing the game because they hear this from the nay sayers. But the 2 NA servers are very much alive. I actually think if they released the game with maybe 10 servers and not 60 there would still be more ppl playing this game. Anyway, Badlands and Gorfang are very populated pretty much all day long. Reasoning... The Oceanic people play on the servers, so essentially the servers have 2 Prime times which covers most of the N.A. Day.
But I say don't let rumors tell you not to play, if you enjoy the game play it. I jump on every night and have no trouble finding groups for scs or orvr. You just have to get rid of the mentality that oh the sub numbers are 50k or w/e and just join a server. Because with 2 N.A. servers you will find they are very similarly populated to a WoW server, so who cares if they dont have 60 servers still up, the 2 servers that are running are populated enough for tons of action.
As for PvE... ^$%& PvE. I don't play this game for PvE, and I've never stepped into any of the PvE instances in this game and never will. I seem to do fine without the glyphs from Lotd. If PvE is a concern for you, you really are not interested in rvr.
For Those of you who are solo players, of course you are going to get facerolled most of the time. The game is designed for group play. A lot of times I run with this 6 man premade (and we are all in our rr 70's) and we can take on 2-3groups of destro, we jsut are cordinated and use vent. So don't expect to walk into a lake and expect to solo fight.
My suggestion is to find a guild and make friends. Group with these people, your time in WAR will significantly improve if you do this. In fact if you want a good guild find me on Order, Gorfang and I will group with you (In game name is Beardz a Ironbreaker).
Other suggestions for those who want F2P, they offer a never ending trial for T1. T1 is a ton of fun, so if you dont want to play just play the endless trial.
Overall, stop judging this game from word of mouth and rumors. Just play for yourself and make friends in game and you will enjoy the game that much more. This is the only mmo I pay for because I can't stand PvE, and I dont have time for the Hardcore sandboxes like EVE or DF. This game I can jump on for an hour or 2 at night and never sit with my finger up me bum.

WAR is a good game nowdays. I'm having a break from it right now I'm waiting for my 14 free days to be added to my account after 90-days then I'll probably be back again.
I played Rift for about two months but the pvp didn't meet the standard of DAoC and WAR.
Everyone who ever had an active account get 14 free play added to their DAoC/WAR accouns... just try it again!
Enjoyed war a lot but won't be going back. When the fun becomes more about seeing missed opportunities and bad game design choices that marred an overall good game:
1. 3-factions in Faction PvP to stop the snoball of one faction caning the other and then leading to no-show.
2. Races that can be all Classes (avoids/reduces all those squabbles about nerfing/OP eg bright wizards) and that have their OWN story eg Skaven was a sore loss not to include it's lore or having an order v destro white v black template story arc blanketing the whole game.
3. Removal of dependence on healers/tanks in dungeons or using only ranged attacks or only melee for your class in sieges were limiters in the combat which otherwise was fun.
4. Design of PvE so it does not disperse the playerbase but keeps it dense so the content feels massively eg improves on PQs which were fun but dried up quickly.

I think WAR is definately a game that would benefit from adopting a f2p model. The endless trial is nice but without being able to lvl past 11 it gets old. I think the pvp in WAR is good enough that going f2p will bring in many players and a cash shop if implemented correctly (boosts to lvling or item aquisition) would bring them solid profit. Just my opinion though : )
Cool i'll try out that server and see if i can find you on there. War seems awesome for me right now since ive been needing a game where i can play casually and jump right in whenever and go right to fun.
I just don't have time for the hardcore anymore. The only game im going to play that requires lots of time is FFXIV
Although I do occasionally PvP I'm not very good at it so prefer PvE. As WAR is mor RvR focussed and lack PvE content it's unlikely I would go back, especially when you consider how many other options are available.
Will likely never go back.
I'm very much of the opinion that if you use a certain lore then you should stick to it.
Small sacrifices for gameplay are fine but allowing dwarfs and skaven to fight side by side is just stupid.
If you want the extra atmosphere and lore an established IP can bring then stick to it.
If you want creative freedom and gameplay > lore then make your own IP that matches your gameplay.
If a game doesn't take itself seriously then why should I? And for non-serious games, there's just way better stuff outside the MMO genre.
We are the bunny.
Resistance is futile.

I would. Mostly it is just that WAR has so much competition. I unsubbed due to a new shiny, but have no major compaints about it as a game.
I think I would forget the new shiny if they had a 3rd faction.

I would only try it out if it went F2P.
I actually resubbed a week or so ago after taking advantage of a free 14 day pass, and am having a ton of fun. It's pretty casual friendly, which is a plus for me because I don't have a ton of hours to put into a game all of the time. I can pvp in scenarios when I want to, or drop into an open Warband that's roaming around one of the RVR Lakes. In Tier 1, there's normally 1 full WB (24 players) or 1 mostly full (~15-20 players in each). PVE is mostly soloing, but when doing some PQs, make sure to invite someone else into a party. By doing this, I ended up in a full group, and we went around doing each PQ in turn, was a lot of fun. I don't know how the higher tiers are, I'm currently in T2, and RVR still seems pretty plentiful, but the few times I"ve been involved Destruction has been vastly overwhelmed, which is frustrating, but can be fun.
On a side note, I'm also a tabletop player (who plays Skaven!) and I wish they had included more races, and kept some of the fluff (I refuse to call it 'lore') closer to that. Dwarves and High Elves really don't get along, and Skaven don't get along with anyone (even themselves), so I don't really seem them as a mercinary race... at all. In fact, most of the races don't get along with each other, and there are no clearly defined sides. But, it's a game, and it is what it is, and I am enjoying it for now.
Would Anyone?
Myself and my wife did, we recently resubbed about 2-3 weeks ago.....being real low Renown rank than most players we are still having brilliant fun!
The changes since we last played (a year ago) are drastic and for the good!
War feels like an achivement now, now constant keep capping by mass beating a door and an NPC within 10 seconds...
It needs stragety, skill and team work.
The PvE needs working on I think, but all in all it's best fun myself and my wife have had in a MMO for years for PvP. RvR is great fun and so are the scenarios... I think it's all down to the indivdual to find your place in the war and you feel that you do contribute even if it's small.. as a team its large.
Just the other night... I was about to go to bed for work at 5am..... but I could not log off with the war going on! 2 keeps, at Rank 4 (Meaning can be capped) and both doors knocked down on both keeps... It was a fight of tug of war, getting rams put back up and a mass wall of defence..
Really was awesome fun, moments like this make me think "The sub is worth it"
Best way to wrap it up is read this blog, I love it and he mentions the War above in better way-

Would I advise anyone to return? yes I would, would I advise new players to try it? Yes I would... just a shame most new players try tier 1 and think thats what WAR is all about........ standing on a beach bashing ur hot keys.. when it's not.
But.. if you love your epic raids and PvE stories etc then you won't enjoy......
When they offered the Endless trial a while ago, I returned just to check things out. It didn't seem like things have changed much at all. Not a bad game. Some things I really liked, but a number of things I did not like. WAR is a frustrating game for me, because it was close to being a solid MMORPG. It wouldn't have taken much of a shift in the design for it to have worked.
I would probably return if the game switched to a LotRO F2P type model, but I can't see myself paying a subscription fee at this point.
BTW, I liked the classes and combat. Mobs were ok. Art direction and assetts for the zones were excellent, but the overall zone design ranged from so-so to horrible. (The way the factions were artificially blocked from contact with each other, other than through the RvR islands, was idiotic). The worst thing about the game was the armor. No choices in what you wear in a given level range; armor tied to your class, with no excteption; little evolution of the very limited look as you level up.

I resubbed last night after a break. The game is fun, and runs smoothly. There really isn't much else I can ask for at this point.
If it went F2P, I would probably go back and cap my DoK.
If they made every part of the end game PvP I might actually resub. I really enjoyed the team PvP of WaR. I just hated the idea of doing all the RvR necessary to raid the opposing faction's city, only to get a PvE instance of the city to raid. Lame.

I have been back with the free endless trial, and checked in on the game from time to time.
WAR is almost the definition of missed potential.
The RvR was empty, due to everyone prefering the candy rewards in the instances which was the ( in my opinion ) main draw to the game.
Yet annother 2 faction game, that destroyed the lore for the sake of game mechanics. Chaos, and Dark elfs friendly? Dwarves and Elfs hanging over coffee together?
Had each race been it's own Faction, and remove the instance rewards, you would have had a very different game. As to population imbalance, it would stand to reason the community could have balanced itself with Non-agression pacts, and interaction over a 2 faction limitation.
SWTOR. Face it, in the Scooby Doo Mystery Solving Van of coolness, this game is Velma. In this current MMO climate it has about as much chance for survival as a group of inquisitive teenagers in a 1980s slasher flick. -Tardcore May, 2011
This game is just not worth playing unless you have at least a group to play with. Solo PvP in this game is impossible unless you are renown capped.
There was about 20 of us that started up a while back and we had tons of fun playing for a while as a group. Rolled people who were much higher or renown capped. But running around solo, even as a WE/WH can be brutal.
I miss my squig herder, but I will not be returning to WAR. I'm playing rift as a stop gap until BF3, swtor, and gw2 - so no need to return to WAR imo.
I have fond memories of WAR and will not bash constantly like so many others do, but seriously, they could of done so much more with that game.
Tried WAR again after a year-long absence and unsubbed immediatelty after 10 days. Badlands is just so dead.
I think I would have had a different experience if I were on the other server, Gorfang. But I don't want to pay Mythic $20 for the server transfer.
our complete guild moved from vanguard to this game.what a waste of time..i was really unimpressed given the title.i expected more from it.i did go back and has soon as i logged in i was met by a chat channel dedicated to gold spamming.garbage is the word i,m trying to think of.
