Today I googled EQ2 and it always had the main eq2 site listed first now it is not there anymore. I got the site bookmarked on my main pc but not this one so I had to google it.
Wonder why it's not on google anymore today and was yesterday cause I check everyday from this work laptop by google to see if the site is back up.
Just thought I would share that as I find it strange that google took it off

So I just tried every search engine I know they all are the same. All have taken EQ2 main site off the list for the main page. Very weird since it was just there yesterday top the page and for years that I remember.
Well, eq2.com is still on the first search page. Of course it has nothing to do with Everquest 2.
Do you not know that all of SOE games are down and have been for a week. All their web sites have been pulled. Where have you been for the past week. PSN wen down 3 weeks back and all of SOE went down last sunday about 2 am due to the hack that happened.
Yeah that site use to be like on page 2 lol
OMFG you don't say? LMAO I wouldn't be a member of a online game forums site if I didn't know that by now, duh.
Just because they been down doesn't mean that they have been off the search engines.
For the past week and half they have always been on the first search link on main page for the EQ2 site, now today they are not up there anymore, and were up there yesterday and for past week+ that I been checking for the status.
I have no idea how search engines work so I made this post as I thought it was strange. Could this mean EQ2 has asked to be taken off and because they changed some stuff for security reasons or what, I just have no idea.
As far as I know they brought down all Sony servers for several days, which means that the search engines couldn't crawl data from their sites for days, therefore when they re-indexed the engines (it happens every couple of days), Sony websites weren't listed or lost indexing points due to the lack of data available to the search engines
Then why today after a week and half of being the top on the search engines are they off? I don't get it. They been down for over week now, the search engines as far as I understand it now from reading should of indexed them at the top anyway because they had the security and customer news posted on the main site telling people. So that would of still been just the same as receiving an updated index everyday, like they have been on the top for everyday the servers been down, till today.
I guess it's nothing to worry about, I just figured to post it cause nobody else seemed to notice and figured something was up, probably not though. I want my game back.
Well the way google works is you have to have so many hits per day. I am talking click through. Right now there is no click through all you get is the security message. So since they are not getting click through and stay there not getting any google points. Thus dropping down. It is just the way google calculates those things.
I'm completely just speculating here.
But a> people can't rackup hits to sites they can not access. What is the hit count on the SOE main page which every SOE site now links to?
Also you can believe there will be DNS and IP address changes within SOE. I'm going to be doing business with SOE (even if it makes me sound like a fanboi) because after their security upgrades are done they will have the most secure online pressence on the internet. You can believe that.
I know a lot of you feel SOE is a corporate whore of a company. Personally I never got that from them. All I've ever seen are some pretty quality games......fanboi again I guess. I am really pissed off that their security was so neglegent do not get me wrong. I wonder however, how many other companies would get hacked due to lax security if a hacker network fixed their minds to it?
Hacktivism is wrong no matter the agenda. I am following this issue with keen interest and I'm a bit disappointed by the lack of coverage of this issue on MMO gaming sites in general. I guess it just doesn't have a F2P advertisement with it so its not really news.
Don't get me wrong I want me eq2 back as well. Not being a fanboy just pointing out why the google numbers were not working any more. anybody should know you got to hit the site and click through to get a count, I thought everybody knew that is how google does it's ranking.
I am sure like you are that if were back up it will all be different ip and dsn numbers. It will take a week or too to get the google numbers fixed.
Yes and I find it odd that mmorpg really has turned a blind eye to what is going on with SOE, other than the tough break article. Nobody seams to even care even in mainstream media. The only real coverage is eq2wire and they are just going off of face book and twitter comments.
