#1. They will not merge PvP servers with PvE and vice versa. It's absolutely not going to happen 100% guarantee without question.

#2. He used the term "meld" and not merge while mention the following queue statement in #3 immediately after the "meld" statement.

#3. This statement is the only statement released that was specific and not ambigous regarding how gameplay would be affected - "This will allow for more opportunities to queue and participate in other group related game mechanics".

#4. There is no mention of merging, world pvp / pve impact, character names, etc. etc.

#5. MONEY. Sony wants people to PAY for character transfers to other servers when that feature becomes available.

The statement RadarX issued has nothing to do with an actual merger outside of "melding" the servers's QUEUE system together on a "SUPERSERVER".

This is the only logical conclusion that we can come to based on the information released by RadarX.

Keep in mind that this doesn't mean at sometime they might not consolidate some of their servers however I think they will open up character transfers first to make MONEY before they do a FREEBIE server merge.

This statement here: "Sometime in the next month, we are going to test new technology to *MELD* all of our US and European PC and PS3 servers into four Super-Servers, one for each platform in each region. This will allow for more opportunities to queue and participate in other group related game mechanics."

Sony is ONLY mentioning queue impact and of course they will absolutely *NOT* merge PvE with PvP servers.

1 PC US - SUPERSERVER for Queue Instances

1 PS3 US - SUPERSERVER for Queue Instances

1 PC EU - SUPERSERVER for Queue Instances

1 PS3 EU - SUPERSERVER for Queue Instances

After I posted this info overwhelmingly everyone agreed that this is the most logical conclusion that can come from RadarX post.

It does make sense although RadarX should have clarified what he meant by Superserver or at least put "QUEUE" before or after the term.

You're only reading one word of his description. If all it is is a place to "que" as a group, why does he specifically mention AND other stuff? What "other stuff" does he mean?

queue and participate in other group related game mechanics

The end of that line is why I think you're incorrect - "and participate in other group related game mechanics"

Good point but I think it's just more of the same vague and ambigous retoric.

If you read everything the facts / logic overall points towards a SuperServer set aside for Queues rather then an actual server merge.

Again the term merge was never used and there was great emphasis on Queue system. It was the first thing he mentioned.

Also there's no way they're merging PvE with PvP servers which completely throws off the 4 SuperServer numbers if it was a merger.

However, that doesn't mean its %100 that SOE is going to be logical with their PR.  8)

i hope they do a traditional server merge soon after this superserver stuff.  So the open world stuff will be highly populated.

That's true they could do anything.

I'm just attempting to cut through some of non-descript statements and reason it out.

I could be wrong but as it stands now, imho, I think it will be a SuperServer queue system.

I would definately like some servers to be merged but I know Sony is looking for Xfer $$$$$ to make that happen since they don' t a C-store in place.

There are so many people with multiple 70+pt skill point toons that would easily pay money to transfer their toons to Death and Glory or Public Enemies. Same on the PvE servers too.

Of course they didn't say "merge". "Merging servers" as a term is frowned upon and looked at as a negative.

But...present it as one brand new SUPER SERVER, and it's suddenly the greatest thing ever!

PR spin. Nothing but PR spin imo. The game sunk faster than Titanic. Why would SOE invest in some super central server for it?

I have to laugh at calling them Super Servers... yeah I can understand they are trying to go for the 'super' hero aspect with that term, but it sounds ridiculously stupid.

Why $OE makes any of it's half-baked decisions is beyond reason.

Instead of quoting, I will just say that I feel TheNinjaBoy is wrong, and he and I have debated this round-about at the DCUO forums.

    1) First of all, if it was a Battlegroup-style of queue server only, then it would NOT relate to any other group activities (such as, for example, general teaming, Diamond Heist, or Ring War). No other group activities would be even remotely affected by a super-queue-server cluster, only the Alerts, Duos, Arenas, and Raids would be-- which is the reach of the queue system in DCUO. For all other group activities, you must have the people on your physical server.

    2) RadarX specifically mentioned 1 super-server per platform, per region. That detail is completely unimportant to mention in a super-queue-server scenerio. Where it IS important is in a server merging.

    3) Meld vs. Merge. If you read the announcement, anyone with marketing experience can clearly see the points were specifically given to him to post in an announcement format. That is most likely why details as to what, exactly, a super-server is, their plans for PvP vs. PvE, and duplicate character names are omitted at this stage. Meld, in this case, is most likely a semantic for "merge". Especially with "merge" such a dirty word for marketing for a 4-month old game.

Could I be wrong? Naturally-- yes, I could be. But I would be willing to bet, I'm not.

    lol SOE.

"we are going to extinguish server queues by merging the servers - don't worry, these are SUPER servers!"

how can anybody take them seriously at this point.
