Possible launch time frame hint (tinfoil hat required thread)

So I was bored and zoomed into the new Coruscant screenshot and tried translating all the Aurebesh text I could in there using the Starwars Wiki info looking for easter eggs, etc.

Then I found that they made a typo in Aurebesh; if you look at the two large, similar advertisements, the right one reads:

"M Coruscant Market

Everything In The

Galaxy"

While the left one reads:

"M Coruscnat Market

Everything In The

Galaxy"

So the right one is ... right ... *shivers*

In an update about POLISH, a typo like that would look really silly ... so silly that it WAS MADE ON PURPOSE

There is a big M infront of the line "Coruscant market", of course it could be the M for market but it also could be the M from

... MONTH(!)

Seeing how the typo's concern the 7th and 8th characters of the word Coruscant it is beyond any doubt that the open beta - launch time frame is July / August.

Other text where characters can be determined isn't saying much.

... I can see dead people.

I'm surprised you're so giddy about a game that looks unorigional. For you, Darkpony, you generally skoff at linear "SinglePlayer" MMOs. What changed?

Ok, I shall put down the tinfoil full helmet and address your severe derailment:

    Its true that I don't like handholding and too much guidance but I don't think you will experience it that way in SWTOR and to me the game looks great, in fact. Yes it has deep class based storylines but it also has (and I quote myself from another thread);

    - A big amount of open and immersive worlds with probably a crazy amount of polish, some of them are huuuge.

    - A fresh Sci-Fi mmorpg setting; speeder bikes / pew pew lazors / flame throwers, etc, etc.

    - Interesting take on companions with crew skills / missions, etc

    - Having your own spaceship as a player home + the stuff you can use it for (crafting, navigating the universe, playing space-on-rails, maybe sleeping, relaxing, etc)

    - Interesting classes with multiple roles system

    - PvP servers with extra* world pvp sauce (*compared to pve servers which might have some too in some area's).

    - Expecting a lot of polish regarding stability and few bugs

    - Deep storylines adding a lot of meaning to the leveling proces: less grinding and repetitive kill quests.

    - More interesting npc's to deal with rather than text box spamming statues.

    - The game's art-direction, artwork and the immersion it will offer.

    - Permanent exploration rewards

    - World bosses

    And another quote:

"Some people don't seem to understand the meaning of the word "addition" and fail to realize how storylines could be a rich and awesome replacement for the boring leveling proces in most other mmorpgs. I'd rather play through an epic storyline and chase objectives with a lot of meaning and story than doing countless of repetitive kill and collect quests or grinding xp.

For me, the storylines aren't even the main reasons why I am interested in this game. Vast, open and immersive worlds, interesting crafting/companions, the fresh setting and world pvp are much higher on my list."

Hope that answers your question. *puts on tinfoil helmet again*

    OMG THEY ARE HERE!

I also realized today the SW:TOR is now being listed on Direct2Drive though you cannot pre-order the game yet.  As I sat there I thought to myself that this is the first time I've ever seen a game listed before it could be pre-ordered.  Maybe it's happened before but I don't remember seeing that on D2D.  I then put on my tinfoil hat and decided that since the game is now listed on D2D with the "buy" button on the game screen it means that they are making the preparations for pre-orders and open beta.  My tinfoil hat tells me that open beta will be starting some time in mid-May or early June with a launch date of August or September of this year.  As I've said before, the game is set to launch right around the time Lucas will be releasing all 6 of the movies on Blu-ray disc.  Think that's coincidence or clever marketing.  If they do a commercial tie in between the game and the movies from June till launch you will have the confirmation we don't need that Lucas is a money **ore.  /tinfoilhatoff

I think you are looking WAY to deep into a typo DarkPony, but I do have to admit it was a funny read.

After thinking about it, maybe this isn't that far fetched at all, so there ya go.

Future: WoD, SWTOR, Arche Age, Tera (maybe), GW2.
    Present: None.
Past: Eve, RIFT, UO, bunch of F2P crap.

The game's terrible aspects aside, Bioware have always been the smarter cookies in the jar when it comes to advertisements. I wouldn't put it past their "clever" little devils to release crucial information like that in such an arbitrary way to generate an ENORMOUS amount of hype for the game.

Generally speaking, Hype == a game killer for MMORPGs. Although I despise the very essense of SWTOR as a StarWars fan, I sincerely hope for the jobs of the SWTOR developers, staff, etc....that Bioware hasn't already fubared this up completely by being inexperienced in the MMO market.

    Starwars fan, hmm?

Wanna bet on you trying SWTOR and finding out you actually like it within three months after launch?

I'll wager my salty lick block.

p.s. I answered your earlier question extensively, howcome you didn't reply to that? V_V

Oh man, that would be quite a find, and a great little egg by the devs is this was actually the case. Also I hope it does get realeased this June/July, other than work I have nothing to do alllllllll summer.

    I've got alternative theory:

The developer who made those sings can't write Aurebesh, he just has a program that automatically translates as he types. Because he couldn't read Aurebesh, he didn't notice he had made a typo.

Yeah, probably it is just a typo. (In a screenshot illustrating an update about polish, lol). And the graphic design team must have an Aurebesh font. You just type in the text you need in a program like adobe illustrator or photoshop, but you simply don't get the feedback if you made a typo or not if you can't read what you wrote.

Still strange that in the right sign it is spelled correctly though. Knowing that any pro doing digital work uses copy paste as often as possible, (no reason not to as you could still adjust fill, stroke and other styles anyway), it is a little mystifying.

Or it could mean MONTH NA (as in not applicable) which supports my pet (and completely spurious) theory that SWTOR will fail to launch at all and become the biggest piece of vaporware the gaming world has yet to see.

    In my opinion,

you have Valve Corporation then you have everyone else.  I don't think any other developer puts as much Easter in an Egg than their ARGs.  (Visit the Portal 2 Forum at Steam as an example)

With all the baited breath blowing over this galaxy they would come out a state a date.  I may be proven wrong, but I'm willing to bet ...  hmm...  Well not my own salt block, but maybe some hay or something.

I saw what appeared to be a Wookie in my toast this morning. Since the bread had a yellow tie it was made Saturday, that confirms that the game will come out on Saturday. The Wookie looked happy, suggesting the game will be a roaring success. On further inspection the Bread brand's name was "Sara Lee" Since Sara Lee starts with a S, and the closest Month that starts with an S is September, it's clear that the game will have a September release date. Since the last Word "Lee" starts with an L, it means it will come out late in the month.

All that from a loaf of bread!
