Tera has beautiful graphics and I had fun trying out all the classes. But, quite frankly, the game is a pure Korean, questing, grind game. The scenery is different, the quests are different, but by the end of the second day, I was getting bored. It's a game I could play occasionally, but not get immersed in. I miss immersion. I miss sandbox variety.
The Dev's from BHS in fact stated that they got a little carried away with the armor renders and intend to tone it down in the future.
While doing the over scantily female lingerie armor??
One wonders how designing lingerie armor could make a designer get 'carried away', it offers a visually disturbing image of TERA art designers at work
Artistical freedom I guess. Remember Tera's developers mostly come from L2 and under the direction and thumb of NCSoft, they left NCSoft due to disagreement over mmo game directions.
I wonder how michelangelo felt when the church told him to "tone" it down ? Unfortunately for him the church was the only game in town and they had deep pockets.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
Nice write up, thanks. As a female gamer myself though I don't really care about the barely there approach, in fact I almost prefer it sometimes to looking clunky and realistically armored lol. Everyone has varied opinions on it but I just take the mentality that if I can be scantily clad and kick just as much ass as the guy in full plate next to me than... awesome.
Hells yeah!

I've played with girls that love being half naked but bad ass and some that don't care for it , (but they usually don't have a choice) personal preference like everyting else in game I suppose.
If this game recieves negative points in its review for its character art style, it's scapegoating at that point. Other then the (understandably) controversial point , it's an excellent review, especially on the gameplay mechanics.

It's a valid point. Games today are no longer just for entertainment but also an expression of artisical design. And like art everyone has an opinion, whether it's good or bad.

Sorry, but this reviewer fails.. big time. Complaining about the scanty female costumes? And this is her only real argument? Really? Somewhere down the line, I guess she forgot this was a fantasy game made by Koreans?
If En Masse takes this review to heart, the so called "westernization" has a chance on being a censored version of the Korean version. And if that happens, they won't be seeing any dollars from me.. and alot of other people if the word gets out.
Though I disagree about the female armor, I am a female gamer and I simply LOVE the armor in this game, yes it is revealing but imo its tastefully done, I love the fact that I don't have to feel like a nun on a mission but feel feminine and strong at the same time.
But as I said, excellent review, keep up the good work
Really enjoyed the review, Suzie, thanks. Particularly liked the detail about colour etc; really gave me a sense of the visuals.
Regarding the armour; I too would like the choice to play a female who is not dressed ridiculously. So far as I know, female warriors throughout the ages have dressed the same as men, and yes, I know it's a fantasy game, but if that's the only argument being made why are the rules different for the two genders?
It seems pretty obvious to me in that games reflect the values of the real world, ie females tend to be valued for how they look (preferably as sexually attractive as possible to males), rather than for what they do. It's depressing that every time this topic is raised, some people are dismissive rather than trying to understand the point that is being made.
