Cooperative gameplay, engaging combat system, finely crafted and fun to explore world.

Id love player houses/guild bases too!

    tough to say.

I do start with the Title and Artwork. If the world looks appealing then I am sold.

The it comes to character customization and end game content.

All games have progression which I enjoy, but it really is about the end game for me.

I still think a health mix of PvP and PvE is important.

Even though not my first MMO, Dark Age of Camelot was by far my favorite.

I draw a lot from that game in terms of what I look for when I go to play a new MMO.

Sadly for PvP most AAA games only go two faction because of WoW's success.

DAOC's 3 faction system was amazing and I played Midgard which was considered a lesser faction to Albion.

It's a similar process in other mediums, searching for books, films, music... you can filter the stuff that is completely anathema right away eg most Eastern f2p that have that immediately "cheap/tacky" je ne sais quoi cr@p to them... then it's a case of if you are lucky the opposite: Some new title jumps out at you right away (pick me! pick me!) and just speaks your language of quality in some sixth sense way that's hard to identify. That sets it up for how new it seems, how it compares to the best mmo you have played and if the features keep impressing or you reach your first: "Uh-oh! First chink in the armour, Ted!" (~ There's Somthing About Mary).

A lot of positive reports usually can't go to wide of the mark either. For me Story, PvP, Art are the big influences.

    1. Graphics, been a long time gamer so been there and seen that already, it's the first thing I look at, and if the graphics are   not my taste it doesn't really matter how good the gameplay might be.

    2. The IP, certain IP's already atract me, however they might be a letdown in the end, but I am willing to try them if the IP suites me.

    3. Must give a sence of freedom.

    4. Must really feel like a online RPG, I already play singleplayer and mulitplayer RPG's and a MMORPG's should go beyond that what I already play in the single/multiplayer segment.

    5. Not mostly combat oriented, again I play and enjoy plenty of combat oriented genre, again I will say MMORPG's should go beyond that.

    6. The game must have a journey purpose cause if the focus is at end-game I will switch to the other genre of games I already enjoy that bring me a much better experiance then the limited endgame forcus of today's gen. of MMORPG's

    7. Plenty of social feature's, while I enjoy solo play a MMORPG should never gives the means to cap lvl completely solo.

I am sure there are more criteria's for me, but these are the first ones that came to mind.
