Just saw this and thought our Canadian gaming brothers and sisters might like to read this. It is an article about how one of the major ISP providers in Canada was caught throttling WoW subscribers.
Canadian ISP Admits to Throttling WoW Subscribers. <<< clicky

This is old news, but I'm not surprised to the least. Rogers and Bell are truly a disgrace for Canada. When you have such an overwhelming monopoly, it is hardly surprising that these companies will have ZERO incentives to innovate their products. Good thing there are at least a few good independent providers which are fighting to break the dual monopoly.
Which is hilarious, as WOW uses shit all for bandwidth.
Better WoW than Netflix or watching 400 youtube videos a day.
It's actually mostly the patching for WoW that gets throttled, because Canadian ISPs use traffic shaping against torrent traffic (which is absurdly easy to bypass with decent torrent encryption protocols).
That's not to say what the ISPs are doing is right... then again if Blizzard wasn't cheap they'd just pay for a decent patching system and there would be no problem.
Wow thats a suprise.
