Looking for something abit crafty

threeshrubsthreeshrubs Member Posts: 8

Hihi,

I'm alittle bit lost and after some advice for finding a mmo for me. What i'm looking for is a game with the crafting complexity like 'a tale in the desert' but with some combat action as well.

I love 'a tale in the desert' but not having any action kills it for me in the long run. I dont mind its is free or subscription.

Thanks for any advice

You might want to read up on Xsyon, i havnt played it personally but i read that it is alot of crafting and you can change the land scape.

also has some pvp as tribes battle over stuff.

From what i know Xsion is supposed to be a game with a deep crafting system (terraforming included) and an ok fighting system as well. It is also a PVP sort of game but i believe the main focus is the crafting and terrafoming part.

Xsyon,  is definately crafty, everything is player made,  there is rudimentary combat and pvp  but it is being worked on

very addictive,  still new so has a few server issues,  but lots of fun if you are interested in indie sandbox games

Xsyon is in what they call prelude.. Basicalyl a paid beta.

They have the bulding/terrforming/crafting system in plae and working really, the combat is very basic at the moment but they have hired a guy to sepcifically work on this side of things.

The game launched last week but they have been having issues with lag and performance...mostly the lag has been sorted but there are zone areas of the map that have really bad fps issues.

I would say hold off for a few weeks until things get sorted.. unless you dont mind working through launch issues.

Make sure you watch some videos on it first though. i know you said you are looking for a crafting game and Xsyon has alot of that but if you also want combat right now the combat looks pretty lame from what i saw in video. so you might want to check that out first and make sure its somthing you could deal with.

combat is a bit basic at the moment thats right.. it consists of left click ofr left attack right click for right attack.. you can also block each side and dodge as well.. its unbalanced at the moment and animations do suck... its like a very very basic version of mount and blade combat i guess..

If you want to have to explore a huge map to hunt mobs for their skinning mats to make yourself custom enchanted items than check out Darkfall. I love the crafting in the game because it makes you a tougher character overall since crafting raises your stats (str, wis, etc.).

I have been playing for over 2 years and am about halfway done with crafting (I craft very casually though). I have only seen about 70% of the map and only half of the dungeons and haven't even finished half of the quests yet. There are a lot of things to do and when your crafter becomes powerful you can take your prized possessions into the best epic PVP battles that any MMORPG has to offer.

This game could keep you busy for years because it is all about the journey and exploring, making friends and fighting enemies, etc. I do not know what to expect when I log in and have some very good and bad nights. I like the unpredictability.

If interested I recommend trying out the free-trial.

Check for the mobs here and make sure to bring a skinning knife (and maybe a pick ax to mine between spawns):

Dwarves make the best crafters btw! (their durability is higher than any other race when making armor).

SWG and Vanguard are probably the best bet if your want a risk-free chill game where you are never brought to the edge of your seat.
